I had seen the Hill book at the Ark. History Commission, and went back on a trip to do the other lookup. As I am now living in Dallas, I could only suggest that you contact the History Commission, and ask them to research the name in "The Hill Family". This was compiled by Clem J. Hill in 1980. Based on the dates, he would have been about 85 at the time he assembled this book. The libraries in Okla. City and Clarksville AR are also logical places to look for this book. However, the John R. Hill name was not in the direct line of the author (I only copied those 2-3 pages). If you are in this Hill line, Mark was a War of 1812 soldier, a pvt. in Capt. James Gault's Co., 2nd Regiment TN Militia, and fought at the battle of New Orleans. The family then came to Ark. as pioneer settlers. The next logical step is the 1900 soundex for AR, if your local library has it. If not, there may be someone on the Johnson Co. homepage who would do the lookup for you.
