The daughter of John & Lau-ra (Gibbons) Harris, she was born on April 2, 1910 and raised in Lamar, Arkansas, where she later taught school before moving to Anacortes in 1939. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church here in town. Preceded in death by her hus-band, Floyd, she leaves to cher-ish her memory, one daughter & son-in-law, Nadine & Rod Via of Haymarket, VA; two sons, Kenneth Oakes and Gay-lon Oakes, both of Anacortes; two granddaughters, Leanne Mills and Brenda Borror, both of Virginia, and five great-grandchildren, also living in Virginia. Viewing and visitation will be held at Evans Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, September 28, 2005, beginning at 9:00 a.m. un-til the funeral service, which will take place at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors Les Welk and Jim Ter-ry officiating.
