Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hV.2ADE/2194.1 Message Board Post: A few things to know - At that time the marriage record will be a handwritten entry in a book, made from a report by the minister or JP, with information that may vary from exactly what you have (most of them are this way) to a more extensive mention that might include a parent's name if one party was underage. So, you might find more, but don't count on it. Keep the expectations reasonable. The copy you would get will be a copy of the page from microfilm. There are ways you can request this, and although I can't say what fees apply, $10 is a fair guess for fees and copies, since you already know the book and page. It would be at least a 30 minute task to find and copy from film. - The Butler Center for Arkansas Studies - part of the main library in Little Rock, Ark. arkinfo@cals.lib.ar.us www.cals.lib.ar.us They do not have the staff to offer a research service, but may be able to make a copy, as they have this microfilm. Asking won't hurt. - Arkansas History Commission - agency of the State of Arkansas. Again, they do not have a research service, but you should contact them directly to ask if they can help. They also have this microfilm. www.ark-ives.com/ - Go to an LDS Family History Center, order this microfilm, and make copies locally. It might take longer, but it will likely be less expensive, and you will be able to see the entry before spending money on copies and postage. If you get a copy, post a followup to this message so that it is "closed". I am attaching a sample of what the record might look like - my W.B. McDaniel and Elizabeth Ogilvie, recorded in Johnson County in 1868.

Thank you Right now I'm in Canada so obtaining a marriage record can be somewhat difficult. I need a marriage licence from Johnson County, I called the county clerk and they advised they don't do genealogy request I have to find someone who can do it for me. I'll gladly pay $10 to someone if they can provide me a copy of the certificate I need for their time. After years of searching we may finally have a lead on a maternal line. This is after finding a newspaper clipping, prison records from her son.. and a lot of other research. I received a response on a posting else where and they stated: The record of marrraige for Jesse Rogers and Genethy "Jeanette" is found in book N pg 102 of Johnson Co. July 02, 1862. If I have it right Jeanettes maiden name was Raney, This was her second marraige. her first was to a James Cook in 1856, that one is found in Franklin Co.Book A, Pg 151 on Oct 16, 1856. Her fathers name was William. Hope all this is right and it helps. So if possible I would really appreciate if someone can obtain a copy of the marriage record for me. As the information here makes a lot of things makes sense such as family lore telling us her last name was cook. Kris Wheeler www.trixnbun.com

Williams (it's not a very good picture but I have one). His name was Thomas J. Williams and he was in fact James Caldwell Williams's son with this Swing lady. Thomas J. Williams was born Jan 15 1887. I am not in James C. Williams's direct line but my gr gr gr grandfather was James's brother, William Stephen Williams of Lamar Twp. I do not really know much about Thomas because I just recently found out about him. Serilda (Marvel) Williams, Francis Marion's mother, even admits in the 1900 census this child is not hers. I know that Frank (Francis Marion) raised Thomas after James C. Williams died in 1897. I am also related to the Marvel family and a bunch of other's down there. I was also told that Thomas's mother was Cherokee, so it's a good possiblity she was. Serilda (Francis Marion's mother, and James Preston's mother) was not a Cherokee, I am of her line of Marvel's in a couple of ways. Her mother; we believe, was Rutha Jordan, daughter of Francis Jordan and Hester Boren. I am also related to her by her brother James Aaron Marvel, he was one of my gr gr gr grandfathers. I have a whole website on what I have if you want to look at it. http://williamsgenealogy.net Kristen mickeysmile440@comcast.net
