Hi Geoff, Here in the states you have to apply for a copy of a death certificate usually through the state vital records department. I am sending you a link that you can order a Oklahoma Death Certificate on line. http://www.deathcertificatesusa.com/state/dc_oklahoma.html I also found this other site: http://www.vitalchek.com/provider_overview.asp?provider_id=90094 I hope that helps. I don't live in Oklahoma, but I found these links. If this doesn't work, let me know and I will see what else you can do to get a copy. List Members, I have just received all six volumes of the "Index of the World War I - Soldiers", if someone should need a lookup. Please keep the lookups to a minimum (two to three) and state in the subject line "WWI - Lookup". Also, please give first and last names of the veteran you are looking for. Due to being fair to the publisher and writer, do not ask for "all of the Smith's, Jones' etc, etc. These books contain over 65,000 soldiers, and would be a great asset to any genealogist library. The following is what all it gives on most of the soldiers: a.. full name b.. army serial number (essential for getting more information) c.. race d.. residence city and county e.. date and place he entered service f.. whether he was an officer g.. his age in years and months or date of birth h.. town and state (or foreign city and country) of his birth i.. and notes Becky Roberts Pilotsmom@classicnet.net "I only work on Genealogy on days that end in "Y"." - Author Unknown

I can't find any place by that name, or similar name, on an Arkansas map. I did find a John Nipps living in Johnson county Arkansas in the 1910 census. So I'm wondering if there is, or was, a town by that name? maybe a hospital with that name? any other suggestions? Thanks for any help.

I am not for sure, I will check in what papers I have but that is where Mary Elizabeth married Otho Rhodes and I think that is where Benjamin married Puss Coose. My grandpa James Harrison seen gr.grandpa Benjamin when he was about 9 years old and then didn't see him again. James Harrison's brother Dock seen him at a later date. Dock took his sons to see Benjamin but wouldn't let them go in the house when he got there. Dock talked to him and then left. It seems that everyone who is trying to find information on Benjamin draws blanks. Maybe Fort Smith can hold something for us????????

I have not looked there for him. I've been meaning to go to the library and look in the AR death index but haven't had time. It's funny that he would move there after staying pretty close to his nephew for 20 yrs or so. Will keep in touch. I would like to get copies of divorce papers, etc. Where were they divorced? Williams- You know he's a Williams family member, weather some of the family likes it or not. I think he deserves to be recognized as such. Many people do not include him in their research that's why no one knows much about him at all. I too was told Susan was a Cherokee Indian. James Caldwell Williams was my gr gr gr grandfather's brother- his name was William Stephen Williams and he lived in Lamar and Kingsland Twp. in Johnson Co. James Caldwell Williams was born Feb 23, 1826 in Posey Co Indiana, he was the oldest son to Jesse and Nancy (Caldwell) Williams. James Caldwell Williams died in 1897 and is buried in Coal Hill Cemetery Johnson Co Arkansas. I found this on a Mrs. Serilda Williams in Johnson Co.- Name: P. W. SELF Spouse: SERILDA [Mrs] WILLIAMS Marriage Date: 10 Dec 1887 County: Johnson State: AR This man's name was Pleasent Ware Self (the daughter of James Caldwell Williams, Martha Elizabeth Williams married the son of this Pleasent Ware Self, William T. Self). I however have never found Serilda living with P.W Self in any Census's but the marriage obviously took place or it wouldn't have been recorded. I have found P.W. Self was the neighbor of James Caldwell Williams and Serilda in the 1880 census. I haven't found a marriage record for James Caldwell Williams and Susan, but if they got married somewhere else other then Johnson Co it wouldn't have been recorded there. If you want anymore you can look on my website at http://williamsgenealogy.net Everything I have found so far is on that website. Kristen

Hello from Riverside County in Southern California! I am trying to verify a family story of a flood in Johnson County. Story goes that "A flash flood hit and Arthur's wife and two children, boy and girl, 6 and 9 years old, clung to each other trying to survive. Arthur was holding onto a tree and lost grip of his wife and two children. He was able to climb up in the tree and save himself. He was there the next day. His wife Isabella James Cagle had a dream the night before that she was buried in mud." Arthur Columbus Cagle born June 7, 1859 in Cherokee, Bradley County, TN. Married Isabella James September 19, 1881 in Johnson County. She was born July 1862 in Johnson County. Family living around the Clarksville, Johnson County, AR area? He remarried to Adna/Adney Griffin March 24, 1887 in Johnson Co, AR. She was born July 15, 1873 to Thomas Griffin and Sarah. No one in the family has been able to verify this story. I was wondering if there might be an existing newspaper that would have an article. Maybe at another county newspaper or the state level newspaper? If you look at the date of the first marriage 1881 and the ages of the 2 children 6 and 9 and then the date of the second marriage 1887....things just don't add up. Can anyone give any suggestions as to how to verify this story? Thank you very much. Cindy Maschner Corona, Riverside Co, CA

I don't know what newspaper the obituary would have been listed in but if her obituary could be found it would be helpful also. I am trying to find the death date of Cora (could be Clora) Horn / Horne. I think she died in 1914 but it could have been as late as 1917. Any help would be greatly apreciated. e-mail me at scorpio@cneconnect.com Thanks in Advance MEL

Mine is debbie.thompson@kmtwaterjet.com Send me an e-mail please. The information I have is that Alexander (b. 1862-d. 3/19/1929) and Florentine (Prudent) Brassart (b. 1865-d.1921) arrived in the US in 1889, possibly. At the time they had 4 boys, Alec, Frank, Joe, Rene. A 5th boy was born in 1901, Paul. I have a ship manifest that shows Flo returning from France in 1902. I assume she must have went back to France to show her family her new child, as Paul is also listed on the manifest. I am related thru Rene. He was my great grandfather.
