Stephen married Ann Fuller 16, 31 May 1860 in Jackson Co., AR. On 2 November 1861, Stephen joined the Confederate army at Jakcsonport, AR. At enlistment he was described as having gray eyes, light hair, dark complexion, 5'11" tall. He was killed on the third day of the battle at Chickamauga, Georgia, 20 September 1863.
