Hello List, I have ancestors from Jackson Co. that I am anxious to find out more about. I have a ggg-grandfather that lived there during the Civil War. His name is Alexander Britt b 1806 and he was married to Nancy. Alexander was from N.C. and lived some time in Choctaw Co. Miss.also He served in the place of A. Johnson as his substitute during the Civil War. Alexander was in the 32 Arkansas Infantry, Co. C. His son Thomas Britt was in the same company. Alexander was suppose to have died of his wounds, and likely did late in 1864. My question is where he would be buried in Jackson Co? If anyone knows how I should go about this type of search, please let me know. I have already scoured the cemeteries that are available for that area on line. I have found his son Thomas and his daughter Harriet in the Balsh-Johnston Cemetery. Is there any written records that would be available at this early a date that I could locate concerning the resting place of either, Alexander or his wife Nancy. Regards, Barbara
Barbara, I just had to respond to you after I saw your message. My husband's name is Jessie Thomas Long, and his father's name was Jessie Britt Long, and he was given the name Britt because it was a family name. Tom has a brother whose name is Ronald Britt Long, and he named one of his sons Britt Long. Do you know any connection??
