I have been searching for your Gibsons today! I am way past due in helping you search for them. I started with your posting on Rootsweb and found the census from there. I noticed on the original census, J.H. Gibson is a son, and you have J.H. listed as a female on the Rootsweb posting. The following marriage took place in Jackson Co., AR on 12-26-1880. CARTER, R. P. 22 ARKANSAS, GIBSON, MARGARET 17 ARKANSAS, 12/26/1880 B/210 If you go back and look at the 1880 census for Bird Township, where you found your Gibsons listed, you will notice that R.P. Carter is living just a four houses down from B.A, Rebecca, and family. R.P. is living in the household of his brother, Wm. M. Carter, with another brother, H.L. Carter. I do believe the M.E. Gibson, female, listed as the daughter for B.A. and Rebecca is Margaret Gibson. The age matches up and all and with R.P. being a neighbor, as you know, it was very common in those days for the daughters of one family to marry the "neighbor boy". I think the Florence Gibson listed below is definitely your Florence Gibson, age 18, who married Wm. A Donaphan below. If you notice th marriage date, it is again 12-26-1880. A lot of siblings got married on the same day because that's when the justice of the peace was available or when the preacher came through town. DONAPHAN, WM A 20 ARKANSAS, GIBSON, FLORENCE 18 ARKANSAS, 12/26/1880 B/209 By the way, twenty years later, (1900-1930) my Graves family was living in Bird Township! Definitely got to figure out if there is any connection between our ancestors there! :) Am still looking but wanted to get this sent to you. Talk to you later, Bonnie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
