I have an Arthur Henderson born April 30, 1900 who is a half-brother to my grandmother Rosie McAllister. Their mother is Sarah Frances Matilda Brown McAllister Henderson who is my great grandmother. They would be the descendants of Birda Stafford Hatfield. She was on the 1910 census for Bird, Jackson Co., AR living with her parents, Thomas and Ida (Lassiter) Stafford. Birda had two children listed on this census, Willard and Opal. I am not sure where they were yet on the 1920 census but, in 1930 I find Birda remarried to a Earnest Bowman. They have Willard and Opal living with them, neither have married yet. Then there are two daughters listed, May and Pauline Bowman. If you have any information on this family, I would love to talk with you about them. Ida Lassiter was the daughter of Francis Asberry Lassiter, the son of Jesse Lassiter of Independence Co., AR. She is one of our "missing branches" of the family tree. Thank you, Bonnie Graves Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The 1920 census shows Louis and Minnie living in Logan, Ind. Co., AR with his parents, William C. and Sarah Lindsey. No children yet. I also found the following marriages in Jackson Co., AR: 12/28/1917 HOLMES, ROLAND STAFFORD, EULAH I-328 10/07/1917 STAFFORD, GEORGE MCPHERSON, ELLA I-282 The January 1920 Census for White River, Ind. Co., AR lists: Holmes, Rollen age 18 Holmes, Eulah age 19 Holmes, Dorr 4 months Living next door to Eulah and Roland are: Stafford, Earl, head, wm, 24, Stafford, Maud, wife, wf, 22, Stafford, Alvin, son, wm, 7 months The actual page of this census states that it is Magness Twp. Ind. Co., AR. I am not sure why the Ancestry heading has it as White River as there is no mention of White River anywhere on the census page. In 1930, Earl and Maud and all of their children are listed as living in District 5, Cache, Woodruff Co., AR. I was not able to find any other census records for Louis and Minnie Lindsey, Roland and Eulah Holmes, or George and Ella Stafford. I am trying to find info and living descendants of these families. This is one of our missing LASSITER lines who we are trying to "bring back" into the family. Thank you for any and all help you might be able to give me on these lines. JLarry, Hi. I live in St. Louis, Mo. but have connections in Jackson Co. I searched and found Stephen B. Vick who married Mary E. Coffman 4 Aug. 1870 in White Co., Arkansas. According to the 1870 census, Stephen B. was the son of Turner A. Vick and Nancy C. The death index for Arkansas indicates that Stephen B. died 1 Feb 1916 in Independence Co., Arkansas--an adjoining county to Jackson. There is a son named Stephen Carland Vick born 8 Aug 1879 teaching school in Jackson Co. on the 1900 census. He married a Charlotte and by 1918 on the WW1 draft records is listed as a minister living in Bird Twsp., Jackson Co., Arkansas. By 1920, he is listed with several children. I have not been able to find an Edna Maye Vick who married a Hicks in any of the surrounding counties to Jackson. I did find an Amanda Hicks who died 24 October 1917 in Cross Co., Ar. Could this possibly be a nickname she used?? Hope some of this may be new information to you. Carol, Thanks a lot for the lead in Cross County! That looks very promising. I haven't found where Edna was referred to as Amanda, but the date match makes it worth looking into. I have quite a bit of material on the VICKs and their descendants in Jackson, White, and Independence counties. Edna was one where I needed a new idea. Thanks again.
