Carol, WOW! I have been away all day ... just now getting back to my computer. What a gold mine ... you have been SUCH A HELP! Thanks hardly seems adequate. I obviously didn't dig into the Illinois link. And now I also have a SECOND MARRIAGE. Was the second marriage from the 1900 census? Guess I need to "bite the bullet" and join ancestry.com again. I was a member for years, and then I was away from the research while we prepared to move ... and then moved! Just now getting back to it all. What FUN! Wish there were something I could do for you. APPRECIATE THE HELP SO VERY MUCH. Thankful in Georgia Karen ----- Original Message ----- From: timcar71@att.net To: arjackso@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, July 25, 2007 1:19 PM Subject: Re: [ARJACKSO] Tozers in Jackson Co. In 1900, George K. Tozer is listed in Alvin Precinct, Brazoria Co., Texas. He is 55 years old, and it stated he was born in May 1842. He is married to a woman named Nannie F. and has 3 daughters, Emily H., Georgia and Virginia. In 1910 George K. is listed in Houston, Harris Co., Texas and is listed as 71 years old, in his second marriage of 24 years to Nancy T. who was born in Mississippi. They have 3 children, Georgia age 21 born in Missouri, Virginia age 15 born in Arkansas and Leonard age 7 born in Texas. According to the Texas death index which is on line at Ancestry.com; George K. Hi All, Is there only one cemetery near Tupelo? I know of the White Church cemetery in Woodruff County and some of my Tupelo people are buried there so am wondering if there is another cemetery I should know about. Have checked the Jackson County site and did not find one but thought someone living there might know more. Also I will be coming into Tupelo from Newport so can someone direct me to the White Church cemetery after I arrive in Tupelo? Thanks. Hi Wilma, No, my Summers family was from Surry County North Carolina and moved to Union And Tazewell Counties Illinois. I am researching the Jones and Breckenridge family from Jackson County for my grandson. The Jones are buried at White Church cemetery and I am not sure where the Breckenridge family is buried. I hope to learn that when I get to Newport. Thanks for writing and I am sorry I can not help you. Roberta, I am really interested in your Summers family. Are they from Jackson Co? My mother was Dollie Summers born 1915 in Grubbs, Jackson Co Ark on the Hurricane farm, She married Dad there and they moved to Jonesboro, Craighead Co where she lived the rest of her life, just dying last October, Her father was Fred S ummers also of Grubbs, he had brothers William Wesley and John Franklin and a sister Carrie B. Fred's first wife was Ella Burton Billings, she died when was was three years old then Fred married Pavada Donaldson who had been married twice before to Ed Flowers and Robert Watts. Fred and Ella are buried next to each other in Ballew's Chapel Cemetery and Pavada is buried across the street in the newer part of the cemetery If anyone these names sound familiar, would love to talk with you. Jean, All I know is what I found listed on Google. It said Jackson County Historical Society, 7 Pickens St. Newport, AR so I really hope that is right. Yes, I do know about the Jackson County site but need to go there and see if it gives directions for the White Church cemetery out of Tupelo. Am going to do research for my Grandson and I would hate to disappoint him and myself since I have gotten interested in his Dad's family. Where do you live in Tennessee. I have been doing a lot of research in Bradley, McMinn and Polk County lately. Someday I hope to make a trip there. Roberta, Is there a Jackson County Genealogical Society? I'm in Tennessee, and don't know a lot about Jackson County, been there a few times--my mom grew up there.
