My grandmothers first husband was a McGinnis, from the census he was born in Il. They came by covered wagon to Jackson Co, where he died and she remarried in 1908. They had three daughters that died in Ky and two, Nell and Kate, that I knew that were born in Ar. I have been told they had a son named Russell. In the 1880 Census, my GGGranparents (William & Mary Phillips), and my Greatgrandfather (George Phillips) lived in the Union Township of Jackson County. William was born 1842-43 and was from Illinois. Mary was born 1852-53 and was from Illinois. George was born in Michigan in 1876. I know that my greatgrandfather was in Jackson until 1910. But, other than the 1880 Census record, I know nothing else of William and Mary. I would like to know whether or not they died in Jackson County, owned land, had any relatives in the area, and what was Mary's maiden name. If anyone knows anything or can point me in the right direction I would be most appreciative. Kenneth Romero kromero63@earthlink.net

He widowed Julia Hinson, who is listed on the 1910 thru 1930 Census in Bird Township, Jackson Co. AR. They had several children, Lula, Maggie(tyer), Bell, jane, and Will. Will is shown on the 1910 census, page 50, and having Will, son, and Sam, nephew, and mother (maybe mother in law) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. And also on the other line of SLATONs that were not far away. I made an error that needs to be corrected on my COOPERs origins ..Dillard L. COOPER, my gg grandfather, was born in South Carolina, Spartanburg, THickety about 1838. He was the son of Benson G. COOPER and Delphia LINDSEY who left South Carolina and came in 1845 to Crittenden for about a year, then moved over to St Francis / Monroe Co, where Benson G. is said to have died 1863 on his land, about 3 miles below Brinkley. I'm glad to have the lead on Elsie SLATON COOPERs line of SLAYTON (etc spellings). If her SLATON line is known to have been in VA and later in GA before going to AR area, ...it makes some sense re my ANDREWS / ANDERS line (out of NC to GA) that came from Wilkes / LIncoln GA to Monroe Co AR. It was my gg grandmother Parthenia ANDREWS b 1835 in Wilkes Georgia that took as her 3rd husband, Dillard L. COOPER in 1876 in Monroe Co AR, and it was on Dillard's younger brother Benson H. COOPER's line that there was a marriage by Ollie COOPER to Elsie SLAYTON. It is like unraveling a bag of tangled balls of yarn to figure out our family connections. Thanks for helping!
