    3. Hi Jackie, If, as I suspect, you found this information at the Federal Land Patent Record Site at http://www.glorecords.blm.gov , then it follows that Reuben Galaspey purchased this land from the federal government. Check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) link to the website. That land is in Bird Township, southwest of Tuckerman. 1. [ARJACKSO] Fw: Florence ROWLAND
    2. Mark Williamson
    3. [Forwarded to ARJACKSO list with the permission of the author, who sent this to me anonymously. - Mark] Florence Rowland (nee Florence Tompkins) was born on March 16, 1879. She died in Newport, at the hospital, on December 26, 1990. She married Noah Tidwell, and they had four children (Johnnie W. Tidwell, born 1910, the twins [Bemora and Demora Tidwell] born April 16, 1916, and Madie Tidwell born July 31, 1919]. After the death of her first husband, Mrs. Florence married Waymon Rowland. Thus people sometimes called her Mrs. Florence Tompkins Tidwell Rowland. Living 111 years, obviously she outlived just one husband. In fact, she outlived two, and could have outlived three or four, but lived the last score years a widow. The information about her can be found on the 1880 and 1910, 1920 census reports Go on the census for 1880 and 1920 to Village township [Diaz, Arkansas] and look under Tompkins and Tidwell. It's easy to find her name on the census reports. Except for brief visits to Poplar Bluff, Missouri, she lived most of her life in Post Oak and Diaz, Arkansas. [Go to the Genealogy room and ask any librarian to help you find the 1880 census and scroll down to Diaz, Arkansas, to Village township. Village township didn't have that many people, and Diaz today has about only about 1400 people.] Mrs. Florence Rowland was 111 at her death on December 26, 1990. This is confirmed by the Census Report for the spring of 1880 (showing her then as a one year old baby). She lived probably like most humans will live in the year 2500 or 2999, that is, easily over 100 years of age. In short, in this regards, she was far ahead of her time. She was taciturn, jovial, with a ready smile, a kind heart, and had a fantastic memory through most of her years. When I interviewed her in about 1980, she related that her memory was limited to about twenty years. However, she had the most extraordinary facility with names. In that regard, she was like Bill Clinton, who can remember names. And, by the way, although I don't have it, there is said to be a photo of her with Bill Clinton in Diaz, Arkansas on her 100th birthday. If anyone has a copy of that photo, please remit it to me, not because of Bill Clinton.

    3. Hi Ethel, If, somehow, you can narrow down the date, I'll be happy to find the obit. The Social Security Death Index at http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/ has no results on a search for your name in Jackson County, AR. That is unusual - perhaps there was never a death report filed with the Social Security Administration. 1. [ARJACKSO] Fw: Walter L. HUNTER - Melissa MAXWELL
    2. Mark Williamson
    3. [Forwarded from listkeeper - please respond to Terrye at [email protected] - thanks!] Looking for WALTER L. HUNTER, born October 27, 1867, supposedly Tishmingo County, Mississippi - died August 10, 1907, Tuckerman, Jackson County, Arkansas in an altercation with John Yelverton over a card game. He is buried at Centerville Cemetery. Married, Melissa Maxwell, February 3, 1901. She was 16 at the time. His 4th child was born in October after his death in 1907. However, despite the medical impossiblity he is credited with 2 other children born in 1912 & 1914. My grandmother's funeral referenced her father as being ARTHUR HUNTER, possibly a brother to Walter - but we don't know who provided this information to the services yet. Great grandmother had a hired hand, Ira Matheny living with her in 1910. The age difference in Walter & Melissa make me wonder if this was a 2nd marriage for Walter, & I'm going to discover another family for him before I tie him to his parents. Just speculating, but hoping that someone else will find these random thoughts from my head to be just what they need to help me tie it all together in some form of a package that will be my family. Thanks, Terrye [email protected]
