    3. Hi gang, Just wanted to step in for a minute and wish everyone on the ARJACKSO list the best during the holidays! As the weather lately is paying us back for the recent mild winters we've had, please be extra careful out there. Also, this would be a good time for those to whom I (Mark) have personally promised something, to please remind (or berate!) me via private email, so that I can wipe the slate clean! Soon, probably in February, I would like to do a surname "roll call" on the ARJACKSO list. I will notify the list in advance, so that those who don't wish to receive 80-100 emails in a matter of a few days can switch to the "digest" mode or briefly unsubscribe from the list. We have 122 subscribers to the ARJACKSO list, in case you're curious. Many are very, very quiet...;-) If there's a subject, related to Jackson County history and genealogy, that you would like to bring up, please feel free! As always, you can contact me with any questions or suggestions. Mark Williamson, Memphis, TN ARJACKSO listkeeper [email protected]

    3. Hi gang, Ancestry.com has free access through December 21. The free access includes the new census images, if you want to find out how they look on your computer. The 1920 census for Jackson County is currently posted (no index though). http://www.ancestry.com/home/celebrate/freeaccess.htm?sourcecode=674 or http://www.ancestry.com if the first doesn't work. I was pleased at how quickly I could access the images on my system, but I pay dearly for a cable hookup. Mark Williamson ARJACKSO listkeeper [email protected]

    3. I don't know if this will help or not, but my grandfather's brother, Cleve CARR, married Mrs. Martha BERRY. Martha had a son named Thomas BERRY, b. c1897. In 1920, Cleve and Martha were living in Jackson Co., AR. There's a grandchild whose surname appears to be CONKIN recorded in their household. Living next door, was Tom BERRY and his wife. The census was very difficult to read, but I think Tom's wife was named Gerty. 1920 U.S. Census, Jackson County, Arkansas (Byrd Township - Western Division), Volume 28, Supervisor's District 02, Enumeration District 60, Sheet 07, Line 59, p. 52B. 2. Hello, I am seeking to find the parents of my grandfather thought to have been born in N.E. Arkansas. He was born about 1889 and was an orphan by 1891 along with his brother and sister. Thomas Berry was the oldest, born about 1883, then Mike born about 1889 and sister Callie born about 1890-91. Thomas Berry married an Ella Conkin in Jackson County, Mike married Rachal Tennessee Davis in N.E. Arkansas, Callie married Lawrence Shelley. These children remember little of their parents due to their early departure. Is there anywhere that I can get birth records on these children that might give the name of their parents? Were births at these early dates always recorded? I realize most children were born at home and that possibility of never being recorded has entered my mind. Thanks,

    3. The name Loveless sounds familiar to me. I am somewhat familiar with Grubbs, but I suppose not well enough. I do know the name Easley. There is an Easley who lives near Tuckerman (about 10 miles West of Grubbs). In the current phone book there are no Holt's or Loveless' in the Grubbs book. There is a family of Holt's who live in the Swifton (Jackson County) area. Paula Long 12/5/00 At 05:34 PM 11/23/2000 -0800, Easley wrote: >Posted on: Jackson Co.
