    1. [ARJACKSO] 1840 census of Revolutionary War Pensioners
    2. Alma Luper
    3. The American Local History Network has finally completed the 1840 census of Revolutionary War Pensioners. The URL is: http://www.usgennet.org/usa/topic/colonial/census/index.html This site is great! The URL will take you directly to the index of states for the pensioners. Don't miss clicking on the link for "home". They have some wonderful stuff on early American settlement and other wars. The new states that have been added are: AR, FL Terr., IA Terr., IN, IL, KY, MI, MO, OH, WI Terr., and the Dist. of Columbia [email protected] http://198.63.2.33/index.php?ResellerID=272129

    1. [ARJACKSO] 1880 Federal Census LDS Transcription
    2. Alma Luper
    3. I thought I'd forward this on to the list. Received it from another list that I subscribe to. Subject: [CA-CENSUS] 1880 Federal Census LDS Transcription Hi, I wanted to pass on an instance that I have noticed in the 1880 Federal Census Transcription by Family Search (LDS Church). Please pass this on to the lists you belong too. While perusing a township in Wisconsin, I noticed a pattern began to emerge. They had reversed the first and last names in the transcription. For example my ancestor was listed as: van hoosen EDWARD Nora EDWARD etc It should have been indexed as Edward VAN HOOSEN Nora VAN HOOSEN I just got lucky and found them as I knew they were in the township but the search function wasn't finding them. My point here is this: I think this problem may be widespread in the transcription. It would be a real good idea if you can't find someone you know should be there to reverse the names in the search and you might be surprised to find them. I found most of the Fountain, Juneau, WI transcription to have this problem. Tiffany

    1. [ARJACKSO] personal note from listkeeper
    2. Mark Williamson
    3. Hi gang, Just wanted to ask for your prayers and thoughts for my family. My grandmother Mary Francis (Roden) Williamson passed away this morning in a nursing home in Millington, TN. She was the wife of James Aden Williamson, who served as County Judge of Jackson County from 1959-1967, and until moving to Millington several years ago, had spent her entire life in Jackson County. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Newport, and previously, of First Baptist Church of Grubbs. Some of you from Jackson County may remember my family. I believe that funeral arrangements will be done through Jackson's Newport Funeral Home. Thanks so much, Mark Williamson, Memphis, TN ARJACKSO listkeeper [email protected]

    3. Hi Bonnie, I guess I need to write to Bobby Huey and ask permission to copy his (now updated through the end of 2000) inventory of McCall-Remmel Cemetery. I can help you on one of those entries. According to his obituary in the Tuckerman Record, John W. McCartney died 21 Mar 1939 at the age of 79. So perhaps there was a typing error in the more recent inventory. BTW, obituary abstracts from the Tuckerman Record 1936-1939 will soon be online. 3. Mark, I am totally confused on some dates that were transcribed on the McCall Cemetery inventory between the list I pulled last March 2000 and the one that is currently on line. Which dates or entries are correct on the following? List I have from March 2000: James Roy Cooper: b 31 Oct 1894 - d 15 Jan 1916. List that is on line as of today; James Roy Cooper; b 31 Oct 1894 - d 15 Jan 1910 There is a difference between the year he died and now I don't know which one is correct. The second entry of question is: List from March 2000: J.W. McCartney b 15 Nov 1859 - d 3 Nov 1905 List that is on line as of today: J.W. McCartney 15 Nov 1859 - 21 Mar 1939 As you can see, there is a 34 year time difference on this one. Can you help? Thanks, Bonnie Tracy
