Hello, I don't think I've posted a query about my "long lost uncle" in over a year. I don't have time for a long posting this morning, so I'd just like to ask if anyone has any information on .. Silas "Dean" LEWIS (1923 MA - 1996 AZ) Because of this List, I was able to obtain a copy of his obituary, and found out that he had a family in the Phoenix area. No wife was mentioned, but three adult-children were mentioned (and grandchildren, etc.): probably .. Mrs. Eileen YOUNG and Mrs. Linda KING, and Gary TROUTMAN. I suspect they were his step-children. His obituary mentioned he was a police officer, but he didn't work for the City of Phoenix. I'm wondering whether he worked for a university in the area or for a nearby town. My Uncle Dean left Massachusetts around 1950, never to be seen nor heard from again. So, we don't know when he arrived in Arizona. Would "street directories" be able to offer any clues? Thank you for your time. Betty (near Lowell, MA) P.S. "Dean" LEWIS' parents were Silas "Dean" LEWIS (Sr.) and Clarissa KIDDER, both of MA, but Clarissa's father was born in Maine. ("Dean" LEWIS, Sr., was a child of two people who were "British Home Children." His parents, John LEWIS and Mary CORKILL, were born in Liverpool, England, and in the 1870's were "shipped to Canada" as "child migrants.") (They and their younger siblings all were ages 14 to 3, and all went to different homes in Nova Scotia.) (There is a BHC List.) www.rootsweb.com Mailing List INDEX
