    1. Surnames and Forenames
    2. First Families
    3. Hello Arizona Researchers: For those of you who have a deep interest in how, when and where your Surnames were formed I would like to direct you to 5 new pages we have recently added to our web site. Many researchers have for years believed that all ancestors with the same Surname were at some point related. That is simply not true. When you get back to proving your pre 1500s ancestors you will discover that there are in fact many Surnames that have passed through many families that have no relationship whatsoever. The 5 pages mentioned also contain information on many Forenames and their creation and some of the pages are large so relax and take your time. THE ORIGIN OF THE SURNAME PART 1 THE ORIGIN OF THE SURNAME PART 2 THE ORIGIN OF THE FORENAME FORENAMES OF WOMEN AND THEIR SIGNIFICANCE FORENAMES OF MEN AND THEIR SIGNIFICANCE .......................................................................... There is much information here that should be of interest to all. Go to our web site at: http://www.linkline.com/personal/xymox/ Once there enter the link titled "ORIGIN OF SURNAMES & FORENAMES" this will take you to the index for the 5 pages. For those of you who are AOL members you may have trouble connecting to many pages that may come up with a message such as "Page Does Not Exist" and you can cure that by using your browser feature of Copy and Paste the URL to your browser and then enter from there. All pages contained within our web pages are free for viewing and study by all interested researchers. The very best to you all. Enjoy. Harold Oliver Director America's First Families

    1. Help and/or reward finding Ellen Waller of OH & WI
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Waller, Batchelder Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3U.2ADE/1474 Message Board Post: I need help! I am looking for the last branch on one of my families. The parents were Rev. Comfort Babcock Waller & Nancy Batchelder (both born in NY in 1813 and 1814, respectively). They had 8 children, including a daughter Ellen, who was born in Lykens, Crawford County, OH in 1844. She moved with her family to WI in 1847. She was last listed in the 1860 census, and was gone by the 1870 census from her parent's household. I know for a fact that she was married and living after 1891, in Rev. Waller's obituary it said that he was survived by 4 daughters (which would include Ellen). I've tried to find out whom she married and where she moved to. She was dead by 1933. I have no idea whom she married or where she moved to. I would be MOST INDEBTED if someone out there could help me find her and would be happy to reimburse them for any costs involved. Please help me find Ellen after a 16 year search. Thank you!!!

    1. Allied Families are Rewarding
    2. First Families
    3. Hello Arizona Researchers: Many of you are unaware of the great amount of data that you may need can be located within published lineages that you may have discarded because you thought they covered another line. For instance a title may say "The Smith Family" or something similar and since you have no Smiths in your line, you do not take time to pursue it further. Make it a point to always check the index of any reference work you locate. You just may turn up those missing surnames that continue to elude you. As an example of what you may find is the lineage of the well known genealogist Mrs. Mellcene Thurman Smith used by her in 1929 to qualify for membership in the Daughters of The American Colonists. The lineage of Mrs. Smith contains much data on many of her ancestors that may be of help to some of you. Unlike many direct line lineages she has gone into her allied lines by listing wives, marriage dates, death dates and birth dates and also a few words on who these people were. The lines represented are mostly all from Massachusetts and New England On this file I have included names of some of her ancestors to show just what can be done with a line. All this was compiled before before the advent of computers! This complete file is listed on our web site and you will find the URL at the end of this message. Some of her many Ancestors are. Caleb Abel, Robert Abel, James Allen, Samuel Allen, William Backus, John Baldwin, Robert Bartlett, Thomas Bartlett, Jonathan Bliss, Margaret Lawrence Bliss, Samuel Bliss, Thomas Bliss, Thomas Bliss, Sr., Thomas Bliss, Jr., Richard Bowen, Edward Brazier, Thomas Burchard, Abigail Carpenter, William Carpenter, William Carpenter, Jr., John Charles, Richard Cook, William Copp, Benjamin Crane, John Crane, Jonathan Crane, John Crooke, John Crossman, Robert Crossman, Barnabas Davis, Samuel Davis, Edward Dix, William Dixey, Rev. Arthur Warren, Elizabeth Warren, Jacob Warren, Jacob Warren, Jr., Richard Warren, Thomas Washer, Lawrence Waters, John Weed, John Whitcomb, Jonathan Whitcomb, John Whitney, Joshua Whitney, Edward Wilder, Martha Wilder, Augustine Williams, Robert Williams, Stephen Williams, Benjamin Willson, Benjamin Willson, Jr., John Willson, Joseph Wise, Samuel Winsley, Humphrey Woodbury, John Woodbury, William Woodbury, William Woodbury, Jr., Benajah Woodbury, Israel Woodward, Nathaniel Woodward, and Nathaniel Woodward, Jr. The name of this file is SOURCE FILE # 20 Go to our web site at ; http://www.linkline.com/personal/xymox/ AOL members may have to copy and paste the URL to access the site. Once you get there you will be looking for the link FAMILY PAGES INDEX which you will enter. On the Family Index Page enter SOURCE FILE #20 We also have other numbered source files located there that contain similar type of information on other lines and from other areas of the country. I hope this data will enable you to clear up some of those "Brick Walls" that we all experience from time to time. Needless to say it is very important to prove everything you download from the internet. NEVER just accept a listing until you have proven that the sources are acceptable. Everyone has FREE access to all our web site and the reports contained there. The very best to all of you. Harold Oliver Director America's First Families
