Hello, After my posting yesterday, I decided to check out some Census data about the TROUTMAN families in Phoenix. In 1910, there was a James TROUTMAN in a household with Peter SULLIVAN as Head. Three gentlemen in their 30's were listed as "partners." There was a Leo TROUTMAN, 47, also from Missouri, but the handwriting is too light to find him on the sheet. In 1920, there were 5 TROUTMAN households: Charles and Mary TROUTMAN, 39 and 41, from Kentucky. Harry and Maude TROUTMAN, 21 and 22, from Ohio. Lewis and Mary TROUTMAN, 30 and 30, and Lewis, Jr., 4, from Kentucky. (also sister, Flora TROUTMAN, 14) Mrs. Tilda TROUTMAN, 67, widow, from Missouri, and sons, Lew ?? TROUTMAN, 46, and James TROUTMAN, 44. ... These were the families living in Phoenix in 1920. My "long lost uncle," "Dean" LEWIS arrived in Phoenix at some point after 1950. He seemingly had a step-son, Gary TROUTMAN, when he passed away in 1996. So, my "guess" is that "Dean" LEWIS married a .. Mrs. _____ TROUTMAN, who had two daughters, Eileen and Linda, and a son, Gary, at the time of their marriage. I was just wondering if anyone could connect up descendants of the TROUTMAN families from 1920 .. to .. my uncle's wife .. possibly in the 1960's. Thank you for your time. Betty (near Lowell, MA) P.S. Someone from the Maricopa County List wrote to tell me of a news article from 1919 which mentioned there was a Deputy Sheriff .. James TROUTMAN.

Hello, I don't think I've posted a query about my "long lost uncle" in over a year. I don't have time for a long posting this morning, so I'd just like to ask if anyone has any information on .. Silas "Dean" LEWIS (1923 MA - 1996 AZ) Because of this List, I was able to obtain a copy of his obituary, and found out that he had a family in the Phoenix area. No wife was mentioned, but three adult-children were mentioned (and grandchildren, etc.): probably .. Mrs. Eileen YOUNG and Mrs. Linda KING, and Gary TROUTMAN. I suspect they were his step-children. His obituary mentioned he was a police officer, but he didn't work for the City of Phoenix. I'm wondering whether he worked for a university in the area or for a nearby town. My Uncle Dean left Massachusetts around 1950, never to be seen nor heard from again. So, we don't know when he arrived in Arizona. Would "street directories" be able to offer any clues? Thank you for your time. Betty (near Lowell, MA) P.S. "Dean" LEWIS' parents were Silas "Dean" LEWIS (Sr.) and Clarissa KIDDER, both of MA, but Clarissa's father was born in Maine. ("Dean" LEWIS, Sr., was a child of two people who were "British Home Children." His parents, John LEWIS and Mary CORKILL, were born in Liverpool, England, and in the 1870's were "shipped to Canada" as "child migrants.") (They and their younger siblings all were ages 14 to 3, and all went to different homes in Nova Scotia.) (There is a BHC List.) www.rootsweb.com Mailing List INDEX

Before I pay money to have this grave opened to "prove" there is no one in there, it would be a blessing if someone could look up obit in Arizona and see if they can find him, funeral home and what the obit says. Thanks, Carole :}
