John Long was listed as his father, on the undertakers records. No parents listed on the death cert. Hillary Cleveland Long was to have been his birth name, he married Bessie Faries and they had a daughter Violet Long. Violet was born in Australia...it seems that Bessie got a divorce/or at least that is how it is listed in the 1930 census and she was living in Smyrna, DE at the time of his death. I will continue to gather information on this family line as it is part of my direct lines of Faries...which I have back to at least 1750 in New Castle Co DE (father to son, from my father) Carole :}

Congratulations. If you do find his parents, we hope you'll consider posting the information for any other future researcher who might be working on his lineage. By the way, was Hillary LONG his given birth name or a taken entertainers stage name? I have a aunt who was in vaudeville in the late 1800's and she used a stage name. Just curious. I did get the copy of death cert off line, then got in touch with the Mortuary, then got in touch with the funeral home, and now am in touch with the cemetery. Hillary Long was a center act high wire artist. He was also my great uncle. After much tracking I have a lot of information, and he was born in Va. His parents remain unknown at this time, but I am working on that. Thank you again for answering. Carole :}

    1. Hillary LONG, February 5th, 1930 Date of Death
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: LONG, McMILTON, WERNER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/3U.2ADE/1496.2 Message Board Post: Hi Carole - Hillary LONG's death certificate is viewable on-line at the site the other volunteer gave you a link for. He died at the Tucson Sanitorium, Tucson (Pima), Arizona of Tuberculosis. His informant was Mrs. McMILTON of the sanitorium. According to the death certificate his arrangements were handled by the Arizona Mortuary, Inc., Tucson (Pima), Arizona (AZ) and that his remains were removed to Smyrna, Delaware (DE) for burial. He was buried on February 8th, 1930. Little of his personal life was known to the informant other than his name which is shown as "Hillary LONG". The Sanitorium did not have his date of birth, his exact age, his place of birth, nor the name of his father and mother. They also did not know if he was married, single or widowed or what his occupation was. You might consider leaving a posting at the Pima board to see if a volunteer can help you develop any additional information. Hope this helps you in some small way. Glen F.
