Vera, If you have the Izard County EHC Cemetery Record Book, the cemetery I believe you are referring to is on page 135. It reads, "This cemetery is not to be confused with the Lewis Cemetery near Mt. Pleasant. This one is located on road #9 not far from Tate road #7, and is on Elvie Lewis' farm. This is a very old cemetery, and there is evidence of about six graves. Elvie said no one he ever talked to knew who was buried there. There was an old house standing nearby many years ago. Both the house and cemetery were next to the East Rocky Bayou. Sometime in the past, some Marchant and Sipe families lived in this area." Elvie Lewis died 11-Nov-2008, so it is too late to ask him any more questions. I talked to his daughter, who now owns the part of the farm where the graves are. She said it has never been marked off as a cemetery to her knowledge and has always been pastured. She said you are not able now to see where the "indentions" were. She also said her dad had said there were Indian Mounds on the farm and she felt the graves were probably Indian graves.
