Mary,I think that you'll find that Ancestry is a separate for profit company, not associated with the LDS church, although I wouldn't be surprised if some of its principals were LDS members. Ancestry charges for its services, whereas the LDS attempts to share its resources at little or no cost to the user. Ancestry and LDS have cooperated on some projects in the past, but I think Ancestry would generally view LDS as a competitor. John S.
