Wanda and Jim or Kenny If anyone knows or has a Gary Shelton in their family info, we would like to know!?? Graduating class at Calico Rock had just gotten together recently and Gary Shelton was one of those names that came up----that nobody knew where the family went to after Calico. As I recall this young man, he was son of Assembly of God minister there in Calico Rock, seems there were a number 4 or 5 boys in the family. Don't recall the preacher's name or that of the boys' Mother but somehow think that one of them may have been related to the Subletts that were there for a time as well. If anyone remembers or has information please let us know! In our paper file we have James' parents as: James Owens b. 1802 in Rutherford, NC, d. 1865 in Gordon Co. GA, m. 29 Oct 1837 in Rutherford, NC. to Priscilla Prishy Waldrop b. 1813 Rutherford, NC, d. 12 April 1895 in Walker GA. We have a listing of James and Priscilla's children, and wondered which line you come from? Hi Beth, Can you tell us the year of graduation or guess at a birth date. We have 4 Gary Sheltons in our file, but can't make a connection with the other info that you recall. If you recall Gary's parents, that might help. I too am a graduate of Calico Rock (class of 1970). I remember him and the best that I can recall, his father was the Assembly of God minister. Gary was a little older than I am so I would guess it was part of the Class of 1968 or 1969. You might contact some of the older members of the church at Calico Rock. I will make some inquires and post the results. Kenny, Thanks for that confirmation about the church---I had already thought about tracking down Gail Wooten because he will remember him too and probably knows where the family moved from Calico. I have some of my Mother's pictures from classes around the area of Calico around 1937-8 and there are some Sheltons included but I believe those were all from out around Wideman area or further away. Don't know that those back then were of any connection to these from the mid-1960s. I'm sure that Gail can help, when we catch up with him. Again, thanks.
