I believe his name was "Mahlon Smith", I found him and Nannie in the 1880 census of Izard County, in Lunenburg TWP. His name was spelled "Malan", had wife Nannie and daughter Martha, age 1. I think Nannie may have later married Lee Ander Bland of Izard County. Feb 3, 1949 – J. P. Smith Buried At Combs Cemetery Funeral services for J. Press Smith, aged 68, who died Tuesday of last week in a Batesville hospital were held at the Melbourne Church of Christ Wednesday with Elder George Howard officiating. Burial was in the Combs Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Roller-Barber Funeral Service. Mr Smith spent most of his life in Izard County. At the time of death he was making his home with a daughter Mrs Faye Brewer at Mtn View. In addition to Mrs Brewer he is also survived by four other daughters, Mrs Flossie Hinkle of Claremore, Okla., Mrs Zella Beckhenken (sp) and Miss Thelma Smith of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs Virgie Moody of Mtn View; five sons, Clay Smith of Indio, Calif., Fred and J. D. Smith both of Pittsburg, Calif., Lotha (sp) Smith of Cord, Ark., and Charlie Smith of Little Rock, Ark., five grandchildren, one brother, Bobby Smith of Mounds, Okla., one sister, Mrs Martha Hays of Melbourne and one half-sister, Nettie Smith of Sapulpa, Okla. H. and Jocy Stevens Hutchins was born December 23, 1918 in White County. She died March 11, 2001 in Melbourne. She was 82. Mrs Tyree was united in marriage to Robert Hanley Smith January 9, 1937 at Twin Creek. To this union even children were born. After Hanley’s death in 1969, she was united in marriage to Pete Tyree February 14, 1973. She spent her life as a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Melbourne Church of Christ. Survivors include three daughters, Florine Knowles of Cathage, Missouri; Alene Stevens of Twin Creek; and Jerry Haney of Violet Hill; four sons, Robert Smith, Charles Smith and John Smith all of Twin Creek and Jim Smith of Hot Springs; one step-son, Chuck Tyree of Tucson, Arizona; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
