Hi Sharyn, You might take a look at: [1]www.arkansasgravestones.org and search for Puckett in Izard County. There are a lot of gravestones with that name going back to 1800's birth dates. State wide there are pages and pages. of Puckett family names Immigrants to Izard County go back to 1816 and earlier. Many came from Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky and other south eastern states. Hope this helps. Her grandfather..Marshall David Puckett ..was b. Nov. 5, 1852 in Maury, Tennessee the son of Edward Roland Puckett III..Marshall died a young man in Izard, Arkansas in July, 1877. He left a wife.Mary COLE PUCKETT and three young children..one named possibly "Sluby" M. Puckett, Sidney Johnson Puckett [my great-grandfather] and Lenora Puckett. Mary re-married Joseph Moseley who was possibly a cousin and later moved to Oklahoma. Find A Grave has the tombstone of Marshall located in Izard and connected to it another headstone for what looks like a Shelby E Puckett .b. Sept. 29 1878 and died May 16 1892. .although it is hard to read the inscription. I am trying to find more information on these two.I do not know anything about Shelby nor why the two were buried at the same plot so many years apart and share a grave marker..If Shelby is Sluby then he had to have come back to Arkansas to be buried..as I know he was a young man in Oklahoma..I am thinking Shelby might have been related in some other way.I am also hoping to find out how Marshall died..thanks for any help anyone might be able to provide.
