There are still Hightowers in AR. I was not raised by my dad, who was the connection that I have to Izard County, but I know that when he was alive and his youngest children were growing up, he had a close friend by the last name of Hightower that he mentioned in his letters. In past years, we have had a lot of Hightower researchers on this list. With my having had a couple of crashes and losing all my old messages, I no longer have them to refer back to. I do have one Mary Jane Hightower listed in my FTM program: Descendants of Mary Jane Hightower 1 Mary Jane Hightower .. +John Finley *2nd Husband of Mary Jane Hightower: .. +Willis Battles No dates or further information on her. Truly this is more on the Battles then the Hightower, but anyway: I had Willis BATTLES married to "HILA J." FINLEY. Which was apparently Mary Jane HIGHTOWER Finley. I thank you for letting me get my notes straightened out. Willis and Mary Jane had a son, Joseph Eli Battles that married Mary Ella LAWHORN; I have no marr date/state listed, but believe AR. The timeline is getting close to encroaching on living descendants. The ancestors of Willis Battles beginning with his parents and going back a few generations are: Francis Nelson Battles 1816 AL - 1863 AR and Mary Ann LAWSON 1819 AL - 1870 AR; both buried in the Big Spring Cem., Mount Pleasant, Izard Co., AR.
