The remains were forwarded to Creswell Wednesday and burial took place at the Palestine cemetery, east of that place, Wednesday afternoon, funeral services being conducted by Rev. D. H. Holland. Mrs Speak had been troubled with appendicitis for some time, and it was decided to take her to the hospital for an operation, which was performed about two weeks ago. She was thought to be recovering from the operation and able to return home and Mr Speak went to Little Rock to accompany her home, but she took a turn and died with in a few hours. Mrs Speak was a member of the M. E. Church and was a devout Christian, enjoying the highest respect and esteem of a large circle of acquaintances. She is survived by husband and four children.
