    1. [ARIZARD] Cozort - Beth & all
    2. Marsha Boles
    3. I started working on this line because of a Cozort I met at my Uncle Noel Moser's 101 b'day party in Wiseman.  He didn't think we were related, but I assured him - if he was related to my Uncle Noel that we were too. First thing I did was ask mom about them. She said there weren't any Cozorts around Wiseman, but there were some Cazorts. The way I see it . . . Soundex was invented way back before computerized geneaology. Vil'til - was Violet Hill Marston - was Morriston Ca'zort - was Cozort Kaysanger - was Kissinger ( . . .  you get where I'm going here?) The family I am looking for was in Fulton & Izard Co. AR and over the state line in MO and varied the spelling even among brothers - Cozort, Cazort, Cozart. Generally this family's origins start around Salem and Wiseman.  Starting with that one 1920 census Vera found, I have scoured obits and cemeteries in the area.  1920 Baker, Izard, County Arkansas       Frank Cazort 48       Amanda Cazort 47       Major Cazort 21       Ona Cazort 18       Walter Cazort 16       Artie Cazort 13       Velmer Cazort 11       Nova Cazort 9       Alma Cazort 6       Arthur Goodman 54 Report below is strictly from obits and cemetery records                     1      Frank Cozort        ..        +Amanda J. 3. Good Moring! From this census record, it appears gentleman I knew at Bixby in 1950s was eldesst son, "M. O." in his mother's obituary Vera had posted - and "Major" in census.  They had son called "Mo" -- probably a junior. I can visualize these people.  Mr. COZORT was medium heiight, slender built, with light brown hair.  Mrs. COZORT was dark-eyed beauty with brunette hair - possibly some Indian.  Some of children looked more like him and some resembled her.  Priscilla was copy of her mother.  Wayne was taller and larger than their father but had his father's coloring and hair.  Their sons were in building trades.  My last contact with Wayne was about 1998 when I called to get his brother's number.  The brother came and gave me an estimate on foundation work and French drains on Tereva's 1917 house she bought at 22 and still owns.  She had already moved to Texas and I lived in her house until I moved here in 2004. Priscilla's husband David Paul WATSON died before before 1993.  If he had still been living, he would have eulogized her.  He officiated at my father's funeral in 1977.  He retired from Amerada-Hess and preached all his life, and we knew him and his family at Broken Arrow from when I was a child.  Thru the grapevine heard that Priscilla remarried.  She would be about 80. 3. Beth, my folks probably knew his parents, as my Grandfather Robert Polk KING and couple other men started Church of Christ in Broken Arrow soon after locating there in 1921, sixteen years before my birth. It seems my mother knew they were from Arkansas.  She told me interesting tidbit -- one connected to BURLESON of Izard or Baxter area.  She told me this because Fern WOOD(S) - daughter of relative Lois {KING} WOOD(S) - dau of Charles Oliver KING, nephew of my grandfather Robert Polk KING - had married BURLESON.  There was "mates' switch."  Fern and BURLESON husband traded mates with other couple, with whom they had associated.  I remember some connection to WATSONs. Grandmother of my youngest son Barry Edmond KEITH (one who has lived in Japan since 1981 and is professor at university there) was Grace WATSON.  She was City Librarian at Fayetteville, Arkansas and the genealogy wing built in 1970s was named for her.  I know that one of her ancestors was one of the kidnapped (but rescued) girls in story, "Last of the Mohicans."  Seems there is painting depicting that.  I'll look at my son's records and let you know where they lived.  Her WATSONs lived at Prairie Grove before the Civil War, and she had furniture from their home.  One piece was a a chest and at the time Union invaded their home the top drawer was locked.  They broke the lock, removed drawer which family replaced.  Her father was county official of Washington County.  She graduated from University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. About the "mate switch" -- seems I got to bottom of that few years ago -- all stored on my double set of backup floppies.  The only progress made is that I have purchased external drive and 2010 edition of Family Tree -- but don't know how to get from "A to Z" yet.  I know other List members have accomplished this.  Seems I had 70K plus individuals.  I had most records that Bernie had as we were "working in tandem."  I remember having two or three serious errors, but made list and can correct those.  My own family records are quite accurate.  I keep hoping some good fairy comes along to help! Have a great day!  I know you're one busy lady.  Peggy

    3. Hello! These are SSDI records found in Tulsa County, Oklahoma.  Because Wagoner County begins just east of Broken Arrow, checked it but did not find any.  I did not search for other spellings.  These records are from Rootsweb SSDI, which I've always preferred to ancestry.  They include the age calculation. 3. " . . .Arthur i's a widowed brother." Who is Arthur Goodman ? ? ? - a brother of whom? Frank or Amanda ? 1920 Baker, Izard, County Arkansas       Frank Cazort 48       Amanda Cazort 47       Major Cazort 21       Ona Cazort 18       Walter Cazort 16       Artie Cazort 13       Velmer Cazort 11       Nova Cazort 9       Alma Cazort 6       Arthur Goodman 54 Who is Arthur Goodman ? ? ? - a brother of whom? Is it Goodman or Goodwin  ? ? ? Makes more sense Arthur is brother of Amanda. Making her a Goodman too??? However . . . I think this is also step-son of James Chesley Cozort - his 1st wife Priscilla Jane McCullough was 1st married to Arthur Goodwin b. 1838 England d. abt. 1870. Think I found this on rootsweb site that supported James'  2 marriages and census supports he is Wiliam A. Goodwin as Pricilla's child. Priscilla's son William A. Goodwin is killed in construction accident 1920 in NM. If I remember correctly, the construction company was owned by Cozort family that was based in OK. I think this came from Cozart (Surname) message board post that was like 8 years old.) This made sense to me too because I knew many left AR and went west for work in the 1920's. Way too much speculation here! I admit it! Marsha
