Aunt Lenetta was a special friend to my mother. Wanda ---------------------------- Lenetta M. Shipley, 97, of Houston, TX and formerly of Kansas City, MO, passed away November 13, 2010. Lenetta was born September 4, 1913 in Viola, Arkansas to George Rufuss and Clara (Phillips) Battles. Lenetta lived in Kansas City from 1934-1979. She owned and operated Shipley's Market along side her late husband, Tilmon Shipley. She is survived by her five children, Marceil (Roy) Horn of Houston, TX, Myron Shipley of Lawrence, KS, Don (Carol) Shipley of Licking, MO, DeWayne "Lee" (Judy) of Overland Park, KS, and Dena Loos of Tempe, AZ, 21 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, a sister, Juanita Lesco of Oklahoma., and several nieces and nephews. Lenetta was preceded in death by her first husband, Tilmon Shipley her second husband, Marcus Schaper, and her brother, Milo Battles. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 4th, 1:00 PM, at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Internment at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens will follow.
