Author: sevensdeep Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.brashear/233.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Alexander Mason married Mary Mason (The daughter of Daniel Mason of early east Tennessee history) this means that this family married first cousins. They moved to Izard County Arkansas about 1830 and lived close to Lettice (Mason) Haggard who was Mary's older sister and was also a daughter of Daniel Mason. Lettice Mason married Alfred Haggard in Tennessee and both of them can be found on the 1820 Jackson county Tennessee census with their father Daniel Mason and his second wife Patsey Hicks with a few children from Daniel's first marriage to Mary "Polly" (Brashear) Gilliland Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. How exciting to get the Mason Family research started for over the holiday. I expect it may take more time than one expects. I have always wondered, and still find varying opinions as to whether or not Daniel Mason was the son of Colonel George IV Mason and Ann Eilbeck, who were close neighbors and very good friends of George Washington. As you know George Mason IV was the one that drafted the Bill of Rights. I though Daniel Mason married Mary "Polly" Brashear on 6 Mar 1797 and Martha "Patsy" Hicks on 20 May 1819 after the death of Mary. I visited Gunston Hall, home of George IV Mason, in Fairfax VA. years ago.
