    3. Jim, In going through old notes saved in my FTM files, I came across this message, and in reading something saved on Jehoida Jeffery, I found this from TJ Harper: John Langston and Jehoidia Jeffery are both listed as members of Col. Wm. Russells Reg. "sworn to service July 12, 1814, 12 mos. duty on the frontiers of Mo. and Ill." Battle of the Sink Hole - Goodspeeds History of S.E. MO>tjh Given how many people married into the same families, and moved to new locations together, it seems logical that the wife of Jehoiada Jeffery and the wife of John Langston (both being Wares/Weirs), that it is a good possibility that these Ware sisters. Any conclusions since this old message was posted (many years ago)? Thanks. Jean Cuevas Hi, We are one of those Ware (Weir, Wear) researchers, but what we have so far is very little. Nathan Langston (son of Caleb and Elizabeth) m. Patty Weir 14 Aug. 1812 in St. Clair Co. IL. [from previous postings on this list] No birth year for Patty but prob in the 1790's. John Langston m. Nancy Ware 1 Feb. 1804 in Livingston Co. KY. Again no birth year for Nancy. Mary "Polly" Ware (b. 1793 S.C.)m. Jehoiada Jeffery 12 Feb 1811 in Union Co. IL. We have assumed that this Polly is the daughter of Samuel Ware of Independence and Sharp Co. Samuel's will lists a dau. Polly, but no married name. We have tried to find the parents of Patty, Nancy and Mary "Polly", individually or collectively, but have no primary documentation which would link them together. Any additions would be appreciated. Corrections are requested. Jim and Wanda (Ware) Hobbs

    3. Jean, If I have the families straight on these, I believe that they both may have traveled through NC. There is so much dispute on the James, I'm really uncertain but the Alexander group definitely passed through. I still have such huge gaps in these families where there is uncertainty about the identity of the ancestor or total lack of information or some vague records but nothing that confirms that they individual is the ancestor. These are some of the families drove me up the wall and the reason that I haven't been there in awhile. Will keep looking Jean! 3. Thanks Harold!! Pat Foster -----Original Message----- From: arizard-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:arizard-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Harold Blevins Sent: Monday, January 27, 2014 10:13 PM To: ARIZARD LIST Subject: [ARIZARD] Off Subject- The Senior Discount May I interrupt for a moment with a bit of levity???? Someone sent me this just now and I identified with with much of it.... Perhaps some of you?...... no!!.......Surely not!!! THE MORE YOU READ THE FUNNIER IT GETS......COULDN'T DECIDE WHETHER TO LAUGH OR CRY. $5.37! That's what the kid behind the counter at Taco Bell said to me. I dug into my pocket and pulled out some lint and two dimes and something that used to be a Jolly Rancher. Having already handed the kid a five-spot, I started to head back out to the truck to grab some change when the kid with the Elmo hairdo said the hardest thing anyone has ever said to me. He said, "It's OK. I'll just give you the senior citizen discount." I turned to see who he was talking to and then heard the sound of change hitting the counter in front of me. "Only $4.68" he said cheerfully. I stood there stupefied. I am 56, not even 60 yet? A mere child! Senior citizen? I took my burrito and walked out to the truck wondering what was wrong with Elmo. Was he blind? As I sat in the truck, my blood began to boil. Old? Me? I'll show him, I thought. I opened the door and headed back inside. I strode to the counter, and there he was waiting with a smile. Before I could say a word, he held up something and jingled it in front of me, like I could be that easily distracted! What am I now? A toddler? "Dude! Can't get too far without your car keys, eh?" I stared with utter disdain at the keys. I began to rationalize in my mind! "Leaving keys behind hardly makes a man elderly! It could happen to anyone!" I turned and headed back to the truck. I slipped the key into the ignition, but it wouldn't turn. What now? I checked my keys and tried another. Still nothing. That's when I noticed the purple beads hanging from my rear view mirror. I had no purple beads hanging from my rear view mirror. Then, a few other objects came into focus: The car seat in the back seat. Happy Meal toys spread all over the floorboard. A partially eaten dough nut on the dashboard. Faster than you can say ginkgo biloba, I flew out of the alien vehicle. Moments later I was speeding out of the parking lot, relieved to finally be leaving this nightmarish stop in my life. That is when I felt it, deep in the bowels of my stomach: hunger! My stomach growled and churned, and I reached to grab my burrito, only it was nowhere to be found. I swung the truck around, gathered my courage, and strode back into the restaurant one final time. There Elmo stood, draped in youth and black nail polish. All I could think was, "What is the world coming to?" All I could say was, "Did I leave my food and drink in here"? At this point I was ready to ask a Boy Scout to help me back to my vehicle, and then go straight home and apply for Social Security benefits. Elmo had no clue. I walked back out to the truck, and suddenly a young lad came up and tugged on my jeans to get my attention. He was holding up a drink and a bag. His mother explained, "I think you left this in my truck by mistake." I took the food and drink from the little boy and sheepishly apologized. She offered these kind words: "It's OK. My grandfather does stuff like this all the time." All of this is to explain how I got a ticket doing 85 in a 40 mph zone. Yessss, I was racing some punk kid in a Toyota Prius. And no, I told the officer, I'm not too old to be driving this fast. As I walked in the front door, my wife met me halfway down the hall. I handed her a bag of cold food and a $300 speeding ticket. I promptly sat in my rocking chair and covered up my legs with a blankey. The good news was that I had successfully found my way home. Pass this on to the other "old fogies" on your list (so they can have fun laughing, too). Notice the larger type? That's for those of us who have trouble reading. P.S. Save the earth...... 3. Jean, I'll check that location. I don't remember it but I'm not that familiar with Sangmon co., IL but it was where my Knight family moved to MO from and some of their children actually passed through Izard/Stone Co., AR on their trek to OK. My line stayed in MO and I still haven't found my ggg gp burial locations but I suspect that they may have traveled on to KS----just speculation at this point. Some of their children relocated back to Howell/Oregon County, MO and stayed but married into other families. Most of the older girls married and stayed in IL. Only my gg gm and her sister married in MO, and their younger brother married there and was the family that passed through Izard/Stone in route to OK. None of the descendants have been successful in finding the resting place of ggg gp----another one of thooooooooosssseeee mysteries. Thanks, Beth Actually, my grandfather was born in Vandalia, ILL. Is that anywhere near Sangmon County? His father packed up their family in a covered wagon and moved them to MO. Here's a brief write up about Edward Grant Alsop, my great-grandfather. The named changed with one of the family, something about a feud over religion, I think...can't recall the details. He was the 8th child of David O. Alsop. He and his wife, Armina, farmed a small plot of land around Vandalia, Illinois in 1905. His wife, "Mina",had brothers in Southwest Missouri. the brothers wrote her letters about the Oklahoma land rush. Ed decided to load a covered wagon with all their worldly possessions. And, sending his wife with the five younger children on a train to MO to stay with her brothers, he took his younger brother, Thomas Frank (Frank) and William David, who was 12 at the time with him on the wagon trek across the country during the dead of winter, so that the ground would be frozen hard and there wouldn't be a problem with getting the wheels stuck in the mud. Frank in his excitement, painted on the side of the wagon, "Oklahoma or Bust" They picked up Mina and the other children in Crane, MO. and continued west. At the Mo-Ok border in a town called Seneca, they stopped at a livery stable. They had to freshen the horses and get everything set for the final phase of the trip. While they were there, the owner told them that if they didn't have a gun, they wouldn't have a chance, since Ok was filled with "marauding Indians and Highwaymen everywhere. So, after Mina cried all night over the issue (since they didn't own a gun and she feared they would all be killed), Ed decided to turn their family back to Southwest, Mo. When law and order were established in Oklahoma, Ed Alsup realized part of his dream and moved there around 1920. This information taken from an article written by my cousin, David Alsup in the Alsup Update. A newsletter written for Alsups by Henry Conor of Mn. My grandfather (William David Alsup) settled in Lawrence County, MO. 3. Sorry to hear about Sam. We are coming to a time when we will have to make the hard decision with our oldest Lab. I understand how hard it is for you. Hopefully he will get back on his feet. What gets Pit Bulls in such trouble is how protective they are of the pack. In non threatening situations they are very loving and playful. People just need to understand the pack mentality of dogs in general and pit bulls in particular. 3. May I interrupt for a moment with a bit of levity???? 3. Anyone know Frank Buchanan born 30 Sept 1862, died about 1945 in Melrose, New Mexico?. There were children. One was a daughter named Ola born 27 Dec 1897 in Kent, Georgia. I think the family was living in Izard County When Ola and my mother Elsie Nisbett were friends. Maybe in the Violet Hill area? --- And I have tried through the years to make a connection between the Cooper ancestors at Melbourne and the Cooper ancestors over in the southeastern part of Fulton County. 3. I have a lot on Crosbys. My Cyrus Crosby married Sarah Gray, daughter of John Gray and Elizabeth Chism. I have researched all the Gray children and some of their spouses. Cyrus was the son of Nathan Crosby and Lydia Cole and goes back to Simon the Emigrant. My John Williams started out in Isle of Wight, VA and the family moved to Bertie Co, NC and mine ended up in Duplin Co, NC My Kinchen Dixon Rodgers is my brick wall. He was born in NC, probably Duplin or Lenore Co, and went to Hopkins Co, KY. My grandfather George died in Little Rock, AR.
