Hi Betty, Although I'm not directly related to Woodcocks, I have a little bit of info of them. Kermit Russell's grandmother was Clemmie (b 1875 d 1894) Holcomb. She married John Ervin Russell. Both are buried at Hand. Russells are my line. Clemmie had a sister (b 1877) named Charity (according to Kermit). Charity married Monroe Lafayette Woodcock. Once safely in the mountains, they married into the Cherokee nation and developed a deep bond with the land. So, William had a son named James Oliver, who went by "Ollie"?   I remember the p! hoto that you sent of your wife's mother, a very pretty woman.   Am I the only one who seems to think the Jefferys had Indian blood?  So many of them are really dark eyed and dark haired.  Of course, I don't see that in Jeffery history.  Other than my dad's cousins who I know have Indian, and show it very distinctly.  And, I can see Indian on Dad's side, as well.  It may have been through the Wrights.... It features the parents of Phillip Coleman and his descendants who ended up in Texas. The Coleman family originated with Robert Coleman who lived in that area of Virginia that later became Amelia County. DNA evidence indicates that the men named Robert Coleman who lived in Virginia at that time were related in part. The descendants of the Mobjack Bay, VA Colemans settled in Fairfield County, SC adjacent to Union County, SC where members of our Coleman family lived. The Coleman family that lived in Orange County, NY shared many of the same surnames such as Abner. They seem to have originally lived in Long Island. My grandmother was a Coleman and she was a descendant of Joseph Coleman who was born 1771 in Amelia County, VA and died in Person County, NC in 1851. He married Elizabeth Rux Garrett inn Cumberland County, VA in 1800. Cumberland County borders on Amelia County, VA. The name Phillip Coleman is typical of member! s of this family. David C. So, William had a son named James Oliver, who went by "Ollie"?   I remember the photo that you sent of your wife's mother, a very pretty woman.   Am I the only one who seems to think the Jefferys had Indian blood?  So many of them are really dark eyed and dark haired.  Of course, I don't see that in Jeffery history.  Other than my dad's cousins who I know have Indian, and show it very distinctly.  And, I can see Indian on Dad's side, as well.  It may have been through the Wrights.... Thanks for sharing this information.  I thought at first that you were saying that James Oliver was not the right one for Jesse and Mary, but I believe you are establishing the descendancy of his son William Beniah "Ben" Jeffery? So, William had a son named James Oliver, who went by "Ollie"?   I remember the photo that you sent of your wife's mother, a very pretty woman.   Am I the only one who seems to think the Jefferys had Indian blood?  So many of them are really dark eyed and dark haired.  Of course, I don't see that in Jeffery history.  Other than my dad's cousins who I know have Indian, and show it very distinctly.  And, I can see Indian on Dad's side, as well.  It may have been through the Wrights....
