    1. [ARIZARD] [ARIZARD RIDGWAY - McWHERTER / AUSBURN (Marsha / Jim)
    2. PEGGY TRUESDELL
    3. About those given names -  have heard that some originated with Lydia Ann Belle {McWHERTER} RIDGWAY - that she took some from reading novels.  Our original McWHORTERs migrated from Scotland.  I've "scoured" many RIDGWAY records and found name Bonness in families not proved to be related.  Seems name Almus was given to first white child in one of states along the way.  In 1870 census my grandmother (b, 1869) appears as Lavinia A. RIDGWAY.  However, she was called "Agee" which I suspect was nickname for Agnes as her great-grandmother was born Agnes SIMPSON.  She was eldest child and her siblings probably were ones who called her "Agee."  I've had it pointed out in 1970s that AGEE is a Huguenot surname, but so far haven't found it in ancestors. When my niece was first child born to my sister about 1944, my mother quoted my Grandmother KING, who said ... the oldest (daughter, I suppose) would "smell the patchin" -- meaning the work load falls to her.  I'm sure this was Tennessee saying,  My mother faithfully watched "HeeHaw" and I was visiting her and watched with her.  On that show, someone said "strong as Accu 40" and she remembered my grandmother saying that.  She was born at Palmersville in Weakley County and her family didn't come to Arkansas until after 1880. My connection to Cozart is only shirt-tail and way, way back in IL but do have a dear friend in Des Moines Iowa that is related to the Little Rock Crowd----so I'll ask. 1. Re: [ARIZARD] WATSON (Beth)
    2. PEGGY TRUESDELL
    3. Beth, my folks probably knew his parents, as my Grandfather Robert Polk KING and couple other men started Church of Christ in Broken Arrow soon after locating there in 1921, sixteen years before my birth. It seems my mother knew they were from Arkansas.  She told me interesting tidbit -- one connected to BURLESON of Izard or Baxter area.  She told me this because Fern WOOD(S) - daughter of relative Lois {KING} WOOD(S) - dau of Charles Oliver KING, nephew of my grandfather Robert Polk KING - had married BURLESON.  There was "mates' switch."  Fern and BURLESON husband traded mates with other couple, with whom they had associated.  I remember some connection to WATSONs. Grandmother of my youngest son Barry Edmond KEITH (one who has lived in Japan since 1981 and is professor at university there) was Grace WATSON.  She was City Librarian at Fayetteville, Arkansas and the genealogy wing built in 1970s was named for her.  I know that one of her ancestors was one of the kidnapped (but rescued) girls in story, "Last of the Mohicans."  Seems there is painting depicting that.  I'll look at my son's records and let you know where they lived.  Her WATSONs lived at Prairie Grove before the Civil War, and she had furniture from their home.  One piece was a a chest and at the time Union invaded their home the top drawer was locked.  They broke the lock, removed drawer which family replaced.  Her father was county official of Washington County.  She graduated from University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. About the "mate switch" -- seems I got to bottom of that few years ago -- all stored on my double set of backup floppies.  The only progress made is that I have purchased external drive and 2010 edition of Family Tree -- but don't know how to get from "A to Z" yet.  I know other List members have accomplished this.  Seems I had 70K plus individuals.  I had most records that Bernie had as we were "working in tandem."  I remember having two or three serious errors, but made list and can correct those.  My own family records are quite accurate.  I keep hoping some good fairy comes along to help! Have a great day!  I know you're one busy lady.  Peggy

I have tree "TRUESDELL -FOX" for my children.  Son, Earl DeClifford TRUESDELL III died suddenly at 36 in 1997 because of a "berry" aneurysm, but his son made me a great-grandmother in 2009!  Tereva was always bit resentful of time spent on genealogy, but now more appreciative with tree for her paternal side.  Trees online open communication with more relatives -- AND if computer goes bye-bye it's there. Names of parents and places of birth "usually" appear in the original Michigan marriage records and that is why they are are in LDS Pilot records.  This was quite helpful in determining who belonged to who.  Marriage record of ancestors Wealthy WILLEY and Daniel A.B.C. FOX found in Indiana in addition to some other good sources.  I'm at the point where I need some New England wills, etc., and haven't the foggiest notion of where to begin! I've been using Michigan record a lot since the TRUESDELL family was there before 1850 from New York, New Hampshire, Vermont and ALL points North and East.  Her father's family migrated from Pennsylvania to Tulsa.  This couple were telegraphers for Pure Oil Company.  Pure Oil built their own building in Downtown Tulsa, relocatting by 1915.  This lady, Lulu Maria was German -- her parents Maria KRUGER and Philip FREUDENBERGER migrated from Wurttemberg SOON AFTER 1850s. I got Tereva's interest when I showed her an atlas -- and that my relative, THE Martin LUTHER, a monk, from Strasbourg (France or Germany, depending on who won the last war) was teaching at the university in Wurttemburg when he posted his thesis (plural).  He said a man living celibate was not living at his "highest best" -- he married and had children, but I DO NOT descend from him.    Seems when I write, can't find quitting place.  I apologize -- but sure will do it again and again! 1. [ARIZARD] Off subject - whooping cough & vaccines
    2. Marsha Boles
    3. Whooping cough has been in the news lately. California seems to be hit hardest, but not an epidemic. Older adults don't know they have it and before they go to the doctor have shared it to other adults who have missed some vaccinations too. We didn't get all the vaccines in our early childhood shots that are available today and mistakenly, we think all our adult children did because it has been given for decades now. Not necessarily true! Or, they didn't keep up with booster shots. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd-vac/tetanus/default.htm Several types of vaccine: DTaP, Tdap, DT, TT, and Td (TT only covers tetanus; does NOT cover whooping cough.) Diphtheria - severe respiratory or skin infection; resp has 5-10% mortality rate & does heart damage Tetanus - lock jaw, 10% mortality rate (of the 4 I've seen, 3 died, lone survivor was a strapping 18 yo farm boy in great physical condition) Pertussis - Whooping cough Upper-case letters in these abbreviations denote full-strength doses of diphtheria (D) and tetanus (T) toxoids and pertussis (P) vaccine. Lower-case “d” and “p” denote reduced doses of diphtheria and pertussis used in the adolescent/adult-formulations. The “a” in DTaP and Tdap stands for “acellular,” meaning that the pertussis component contains only a part of the pertussis organism.] CDC is recommending 18-64 yo get one time dose of Tdap, but questionable if over 65 yo should get it (should probably get Td). Children get a series of TDaP and TD shots. * * * ME ON SOAP BOX * * * EVERYONE needs a some kind of tetanus shot every 10 years. Folks that deal with dirty sharp metal things and accident prone (use lots of band-aids) - need more often. JUST SAYING: (Tdap, DT, or Td) get a shot of one of these at you next trip to the doctor. If you can't remember when you had your last shot; you are over due. Funny things is NOT ALL doctors keep them in their office because they expire- call ahead or be thrifty and go to Health Department. 1. Re: [ARIZARD] William Henderson KING & Mary Gertrude PERRY (Vera & All)`
    2. PEGGY TRUESDELL
    3. Yes, Vera, that's marriage record for my parents.  They had been married 62 years when he died in 1977.  Their mothers were friends from time they were about ten. My mother was still in school, got up that morning and walked to school.  She set her lunch down by the path and turned another direction to meet him.  They went to the home of Susan and Dr. William Hatler WALKER, a Church of Christ minister and physician for their communities, Advance and Lone Rock.  When Mrs. WALKER opened the door, she asked, "Is someone sick?"  They answered, "You might say we are."  So, Dr. WALKER married them that day. I've been told by some of her cousins that her mother, Fannie {LUTHER} PERRY cried, would wring her hands, saying "Henderson stole Gertrude."  Not that they didn't like him, but they had other plans for their only daughter.  They wanted her to continue her education and be a "school marm."  Her favorite teacher was Matt K. ROBERTSON.  Her cousin, Carl LANCASTER, said she had a "computer" mind.  She was methodical in carrying out her duties and was not easily rattled.  After Daddy died and his probate filed and she was over 80, she was in the witness chair and the judge, being concerned for her, asked if she was okay, to which she resonded, "I'm as cool as a cucumber." She could do most everything for most of her 96 years and possessed a great mind and excellent memory.  I had asked if she had chores at home growing up, and she said they wanted her to study.  She had eight brothers and they teamed up in pairs and did chores, like carrying water and wood used in the home.  She said she learned a lot from her mother-in-law (my Grandmother KING) -- that she was like a mother to her.  They migrated together to Oklahoma in 1921, and her mother died in Gassville in the mid-20s. I'll try to post a chart in the next few days so it can be better understood.  My daughter (b. 1962) had whooping cough, and I took a Z-pack.  My only symptoms was the medicine made me sleep a lot.  My daughter was miserable coughing night and day, so when she went to doctor, they confirmed by a blood test.  Some of my friends in Oklahoma say they have been reading about w.c. in newspapers.  Alexis (11 on Oct 1) had no symptoms but pediatrican prescribed medicine and recommended she stay home several days.  Anyway, we have some catching up to do.   ~ ~ ~ I'm so glad we have LDS Pilot -- so thankful for it and use it almost every day.  Will be great when records for more states are added.  Real good for Texas Deaths and Arkansas marriages.  What a boon for "we who hunt" ... Love and salutations to All!
