Thanks Wilma, I will keep digging too. It's the initials that bother me. So many initial for the men - funny thing, seems like the first one of two initials is clear and the second letter leaves questions. Thank you BBB ! This makes more sense than what I have been thinking. I almost took the Oxford Road when leaving the last funeral at Salem (I guess that would be 289) to go back to Wiseman. I know I would have wanted to come in on Cardinal Road (from Oxford to Wiseman). If I had, then I wouldn't have these cob webs in my head about some of these details. I really need to get up there and blow a tank of gas to set this in my head once and for all. Day trips for special occasions only lets you get that one thing done. I need some wander around time (and a car that won't drag on the rocks in some places). I thought just John Patrick Montgomery owned land around Wiseman; apparently his GF owned land around Wheeling. 4 generations of a big family can really spread out in 150 years. Marsha, If I'm reading this right the Mtgomery family settle on the east side of Strawberry River just below the fork (Little Strawberry River) and this would be just northeast of your Aunt Ruth's or down the river two or three miles from Wiseman. If you look on a AR map you will see that Wheeling is almost due north of Wiseman and I guess, as the crow flies, about 10 miles. Wheeling is 4 miles south of Salem on Hwy 9. This would be the place for the Prosperity Church. The New Hope would be about a half mile east on Hwy 289 and then north about a 1/4 mile off the 4 way stop, where Hwy 354 joins and comes to Wiseman . There is a little white house about a block west of the Horseshoe Bend Dog Kennel and about 1/4 mile east of the 4 way stop and you can see a road that goes behind the house and past a barn and on north and that is where Rosella has built her new house. I think that is where Myrlene said the New Hope Church was located. It was before my time so you know that was a long time ago. :) I have had time to read and study all the information you and Bile have put on but this is what I'm understanding so far. Have I muddy the waters even more? Betty BB ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marsha Boles" <marshab52@yahoo.com> Okay, I am getting confused now. Where was Prosperity ARPC located? Where was New Hope ARPC located? When I was learning to drive (maybe as early as 10yo around 1960), my Aunt Lois Boles Moser and I had many little adventures. She let me drive the tractor from her house to Humphries Cem. with her propped on the fender of the tractor. We had to go through Day, AR and the road from Day to the cemetery was always horrible because water ran across the road in many places (little tributaries of Strawberry River/Creek) and the tractor would cross anything. Even back then, I didn't see anything that looked like a church, she didn't mention a church. Of course by then it would have been a residence and the development of Horseshoe Bend had not altered the old roads. Still, I figure we were less than a mile from the church (Prosperity ? ) - as the crow flies! Humphries Cem.Fulton Co., AR - latitude: 36.25780, longitude: -91.73720 Wheeling, Fulton Co., AR - latitude 36.32 and longitude -91.863 This Wheeling is much closer to Salem, Fulton Co., AR than to Day, Izard Co.,AR. Wheeling would be between Oxford and Salem - right? So has Wheeling AR moved ? ? ? Both churches would have been a little south and east of current Wheeling - right? And if people travel with their laptops like I do lots of times, you really have to get additional protection for your use of WiFi, there is a situation called side-jacking (I believe it is?) that is particularly dangerous for any of your password and user designation so please be----aware. Some of these things are especially dangerous when you use facebook and some of the other social networks (which I don't). Please everyone, update your protection! I THINK THE Charity Chadwick I remember was the Wife of Earl Chadwick. Fern Chadwick was in my class at Salem high school. Daughter of Harve and Mae Chadwick. Lorene Ferguson was also in that class. Her family lived on highway 9 between Wheeling and Union. Lorene's sister Venedia married my uncle, Paul Roberts. I have the Cooper will naming each son and daughter...everything you are asking for but my computer is not functioning right and I hesitate to open family tree maker...my computer is scheduled for some replacement items. Also have paper documents, but too much for me to try copying. Sure wish I had somebody to take over. I have other Cooper relatives in the Cooper-Dixon families in the Lunenburg area in Izard County, and very dear Cooper friends whose g grandparents were early settlers in Independence County. I know a Thomas Cooper now living in Randolph County. Probably not your man? Thanks for your patience. Do you have anything else on Coopers? We have just added a Thomas Cooper to our DNA listing that we have not found a connection to. As far as I know he was not a doctor. . His father was a doctor, d. 1807, we have his will that says his medical insturments be sold at public auction. I think, for what its worth, that the James H. b.1798 d. 1869, in the church records was called Doc, and his grandson James H. b. 1872 was always called Doc. This may not be inportant any way. Thanks for all the time you have put into this. Settled on North side of the Strawberry, and below the fork of Strawberry; and some 8 to 10 miles below where Properity now is. She let me drive the tractor from her house to Humphries Cem. with her propped on the fender of the tractor. We had to go through Day, AR and the road from Day to the cemetery was always horrible because water ran across the road in many places (little tributaries of Strawberry River/Creek) and the tractor would cross anything. Even back then, I didn't see anything that looked like a church, she didn't mention a church. Of course by then it would have been a residence and the development of Horseshoe Bend had not altered the old roads. I have some connections with this family, and have spent the past hour making sure my files were correct. This William L. Gaston was the son of William Lionel "Lone" Gaston and Mary Elizabeth "Mary Bet" Waggoner. Mary Bet was the daughter of Robert Lee Waggoner and Henrie D. Puckett, Mary was the sister of Robert E. "Bob" Waggoner of Violet Hill, who married my Cousin Vesta Ellen Blevins. The 1930 Census shows "William L. Gaston, 44,; Mary B. 21, and Johny (sic) Sue, age 2 plus "Not Named", 2/12 F The 1920 census shows "Waggoner, Lee R", age 39....Henry D, age 32.... Mary E. , age 11 and Robert E., age 9 The news release shows his parents as M/M W. A. Gaston and the next week they list them as Mr/Mrs William L. Gaston in the obit. The obit also lists him as William Lytle Gaston, Jr, the cemetery book lists the father as William Lionel "Lone" Gaston. There are also some age discrepancies in the various census records. Sorry to muddy the water, but these discrepancies do creep in.....Harold B -------------------------------------------------- From: "Vera Reeves" <velane@centurytel.net> Sent: Thursday, November 18, 2010 11:06 AM To: <arizard@rootsweb.com> Subject: [ARIZARD] Gaston obit > Melbourne Times > > Mar 24, 1960 - Wm.
