    3. HI Jim, I think I made one of those trips to the old Montgomery Cabin with you and Judie that's up by the Humphries Cemetery. The problem is my water is already muddy and I really don't know this family history. The Montgomery Family that I know is Marsha's. They and my family have lived neighbors for the last 90 years in the Wiseman area starting with Grandfathers and Great Grandfathers until now her Aunt's land and ours land still join. I came to this location on where this Montgomery family lived from reading the history of the Church's. I haven't had time to read everything they have put on line but this is taken from the history section. In December 1850 Mr. James MtGomery Sr. came from Pisgah Church, Mecklinburg Gastony ( transcriber note; Gastonia ) County near Crawford Mountain North Carolina, with his family, consisting of h(is) sons Joseph, James, and William, and his daughter Hannah; his wife died some years after he came here; his son John, & family, also moving with him from te same place. His son Samuel MtGomery moved from the same place in the spring of 1854, with his family. These families settled on the North side of the Strawberry, and below the fork of Strawberry; and some 8 to 10 miles below where Prosperity now is. As far as I know Strawberry River only has one fork and that is about 2 or 3 miles down river from Wiseman where the little Strawberry River merges with the Strawberry River. Also, Prosperity Church was said to be at Wheeling, 4 miles south of Salem, and this say some 8-10 miles below where Prosperity now is. Wiseman is about 10 miles directly south of Wheeling. Now I may be completely wrong on this but this was what I took from the description. It would be about the same distant from the cabin James built to the New Hope Church as from the Wiseman area if I have the right location on it from where Myrlene told me the New Hope Church location was. If I didn't mis-understand where she told me it would be just north of Horseshoe Bend. about 1/4 mile not of Hwy 289. I'm not sure I every got this James or Samuel Montgomery connect to John Patrick Montgomery, Marsha's ancestor, but I've not had a lot of time to study all you and other sent me. The only thing I know is clear on any of this is the Strawberry River. With very little rain for months it is running low but clear. So glad your son made it home for Thanksgiving and pray for his safe return next year. 3. Richard O. "Dick" Elliott Post a commentPrint By The Wenatchee World Staff Sunday, November 21, 2010 Our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather has gone home to be with the Savior he loved. He left us peacefully, closing his eyes for his customary, after-lunch nap, and opening them again in the presence of Jesus. Dick was born to Victor and Martha (Franks) Elliott in Wild Cherry, AR in 1928, and grew up on their farm, along with six sisters and two brothers. Life was not always easy, and his stories of life on the farm always fascinated his children and grandchildren. In 1946, Dick moved to Washington State with one of his sisters and her family, after hearing that there were jobs to be found in the apple orchards. He settled in the Wenatchee Valley, and soon met Leota Carter at a church social. They married in 1948, and she remained the love of his life for 62 years. The newlyweds lived in several states before returning to the Wenatchee Valley, where he took a job with Great Northern Railroad. Later, he served as Foreman at the WSU Tree Fruit Research Center. ! During this time, their three children, Brenda, Deanna and Tim, were born. Dick and Leota bought an orchard in East Wenatchee in 1963, into which Dick poured his heart and soul. When times were tough and crops froze, he took on extra jobs to make ends meet. When times were good, he worked the orchard from dawn until dusk, making sure that everything was done just right. It is said that, in his entire 82 years, Dick never met a stranger. Placed into any crowd, he would soon be found chatting and joking with those lucky enough to be standing near him. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was much loved in return. He taught them corny jokes, an appreciation for nature and the outdoors, and to always savor "peanut and Pepsi time" with him. Dick is survived by his wife, Leota; daughter, Brenda (Ken) Voelker of Arlington, WA; son, Tim (Debbie) Elliott of Wenatchee, WA; his sister, Geraldine Jordan of Leonard, TX; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is now joyfully reunited with his daughter, Deanna Bridges; his granddaughter, September Bridges; his parents; five sisters; and two brothers. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at 2:30 p.m., at Living Hope Community Church, 11 N. Chelan Avenue in Wenatchee. Donations may be sent to the American Heart Association or Living Hope Community Church. Please express your thoughts and memories on the online guest book at jonesjonesbetts.com. 3. Thanks Marsha for your responce. We to have hawks all over the place. When we used to feed the squirrels on the poarch the hawks were all over the place. you could hear them abt any time you was out side some place. We have woods around 3 sides of us ant across the road some cleared land but what few trees are left they stay around in. Yes, "yum""yum" sounds good.we need to be thankfull that we can have a choice what to eat and that we have something to eat, for alot of families has to go with out,and be happy to have just any thing. Izard County page with link to the pages: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~arizartp/index.html Fulton County page: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~arfulttp/index.html Direct link to the Prosperity Church page: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~arfulttp/prosperity/index.html I still have to convert Marsha's work to HTML and upload but should have that done in a couple days, if I don't get to many interruptions. *<]:oD After that I'll work on getting the images online. Something else that might be of interest to the members of the list. When I was putting together the Fulton County site I found a PDF of the Death Index for Fulton County from 1914 to 1950 that I had downloaded from somewhere and forgot that I had on file. I did a quick conversion and it's on the Fulton County site also. -- "A good moral character is the first essential in a man."
