The problem is my water is already muddy and I really don't know this family history. The Montgomery Family that I know is Marsha's. They and my family have lived neighbors for the last 90 years in the Wiseman area starting with Grandfathers and Great Grandfathers until now her Aunt's land and ours land still join. I came to this location on where this Montgomery family lived from reading the history of the Church's. I haven't had time to read everything they have put on line but this is taken from the history section. In December 1850 Mr. James MtGomery Sr. came from Pisgah Church, Mecklinburg Gastony ( transcriber note; Gastonia ) County near Crawford Mountain North Carolina, with his family, consisting of h(is) sons Joseph, James, and William, and his daughter Hannah; his wife died some years after he came here; his son John, & family, also moving with him from te same place. His son Samuel MtGomery moved from the same place in the spring of 1854, with his family. These families settled on the North side of the Strawberry, and below the fork of Strawberry; and some 8 to 10 miles below where Prosperity now is. As far as I know Strawberry River only has one fork and that is about 2 or 3 miles down river from Wiseman where the little Strawberry River merges with the Strawberry River. Also, Prosperity Church was said to be at Wheeling, 4 miles south of Salem, and this say some 8-10 miles below where Prosperity now is. Wiseman is about 10 miles directly south of Wheeling. Now I may be completely wrong on this but this was what I took from the description. It would be about the same distant from the cabin James built to the New Hope Church as from the Wiseman area if I have the right location on it from where Myrlene told me the New Hope Church location was. If I didn't mis-understand where she told me it would be just north of Horseshoe Bend. about 1/4 mile not of Hwy 289. I'm not sure I every got this James or Samuel Montgomery connect to John Patrick Montgomery, Marsha's ancestor, but I've not had a lot of time to study all you and other sent me. The only thing I know is clear on any of this is the Strawberry River. With very little rain for months it is running low but clear. So glad your son made it home for Thanksgiving and pray for his safe return next year. We found James, (Jim's 3rd great grandfather) his wife Elizabeth and daughter Elizabeth Hannah along with Samuel, (2nd great-grandfather) his wives, Mary and Sarah and his great grandmother Sophronia Davenport ( Wiseman ) Montgomery. While we were there a gentleman named G.T. Humphries approached us. He told us that his grandmother had bought part of the Montgomery land and that he was born in the log cabin where James built, lived and died of smallpox. The best thing is that it is still there! It had been added to during the years, but hasn't been lived in for quite awhile. You can see the logs where the later wall coverings had come away, and we were able to go up a narrow stairway to stand on the second floor. It is very solid still, and it made me teary-eyed to think that his ancestors lived, loved, laughed, worked and died on the land where we now st! ! oo! > d. > JUDIE > > Now my daddy Othy Flavil, a sister Alta 2 brothers Archie lloyd and Paul Dean (Joe) was born in Morriston > > Off Subject > Some good news our boy Clifford Stacy got in last night from Afghanistan for some needed R and R. If you look on a AR map you will see that Wheeling is almost due north of Wiseman and I guess, as the crow flies, about 10 miles. Wheeling is 4 miles south of Salem on Hwy 9. This would be the place for the Prosperity Church. > The New Hope would be about a half mile east on Hwy 289 and then north about a 1/4 mile off the 4 way stop, where Hwy 354 joins and comes to Wiseman . > There is a little white house about a block west of the Horseshoe Bend Dog Kennel and about 1/4 mile east of the 4 way stop and you can see a road that goes behind the house and past a barn and on north and that is where Rosella has built her new house. I think that is where Myrlene said the New Hope Church was located. It was before my time so you know that was a long time ago. :) > > I have had time to read and study all the information you and Bile have put on but this is what I'm understanding so far. > > Have I muddy the waters even more? > > Betty BB

    3. Rootsweb mail servers have been having a problem delivering mail to AOL users for a while. It's supposedly corrected now. It's possible that AOL reported Rootsweb as a spam source to whatever reporting plae they use out there. If that happens your e-mail server may be using that report and sending it through to you as spam. On 11/23/2010 06:18 PM, Gen wrote: > Why now, and not earlier. It is very solid still, and it made me teary-eyed to think that his ancestors lived, loved, laughed, worked and died on the land where we now stoo! > d. > JUDIE > > Now my daddy Othy Flavil, a Alta 2 brothers Archie lloyd and Paul Dean (Joe) was born in Morriston > > Off Subject > Some good news our boy Clifford Stacy got in last night from Afghanistan for some needed R and R. She let me drive the tractor from her house to Humphries Cem. with her propped on the fender of the tractor. We had to go through Day, AR and the road from Day to the cemetery was always horrible because water ran across the road in many places (little tributaries of Strawberry River/Creek) and the tractor would cross anything. Even back then, I didn't see anything that looked like a church, she didn't mention a church.
