Thanks, I was trying to find something I had erased as 'not of interest to me' and then, uh-huh, big mistake. Still didn't find it. Thanks Glenna, I do a lot of different things myself. I just kept seeing all this Pigg info and knew her maiden name was that. I only have contact with her on Facebook and that has been recent that I hooked up with her there. I don't think she is an experienced researcher but said she is interested in seeing the info. And, I don't know how computer literate she is, either! So, I was just looking for the very simplest method to get there quickly without sending her into frustration and making my ears burn by even suggesting it! Sometimes I get into deep trouble by trying to help people--trying to avoid that! And, you may be the one that gets a contact from her because I copied and pasted the web address off your open 'list' letter. So if you get a 'Pigg' note from a total stranger, I will take credit for it. But, she is very nice. She was my co-worker for about 12 years but we lived in different life circles. Don, Peggy , Annis and Harold, etc. I started a e-mail this morn and something went wrong and my computer was off all day--finally, got it back on. Enjoyed Don's story about John Ghent Pigg. I found another one about Sarah Pigg. Sarah Pigg was born 15 May 1772 in Bishops Storford, Hertfordshire, England D 15 Nov. 1827 (55 years old) in Windsor, Hawkesbury, New South Wales , Australia. Buried in St. Matthews Cenetery. Her parents were John Pigg b.1741 and Mary Sheffield. At age 18, Sarah Pigg was arrested for stealing from Mary Smith's shop. She stole 14 yards of lace, 18 yards lace edging, 3 1/2 yards muslin, 4 pair stockings, 4 lace handkerchiefs, 1 shawl, 9 yards Irish linen, and one muslin apron. She was tried on Hertfordshire, England on March 3, 1790---and found guilty. She was sentenced to death by hanging. C an you believe, DEATH BY HANGING FOR STEALING! Now on with the rest of the story, She wasn't hanged, so in 1792, they decided they needed women in the penal colony of New South Wales--So she along with others had her sentence commuted to "transportation beyond the seas for the term of her natural life" 12 months later, she left Plymouth aboard the ship "Mary Anne"along with 2 other ships Each ship held 200 convicts. They arrived in Sydney Cove on July 9, 1791 After 3 1/2 years Sarah Pigg married Thomas Hoskisson at St. Phillips Church in Sydney by Rev. Johnson, the 1st chaplain of the Colony. Thomas was sentenced at Maidstone, Kent, England, and sentenced for 7 years. He was aboard " William Ann", part of the 3 ships that came with Sarah. They lived together for some time before being married. They lived along Hawkesbury River at Green Hills, Windsor, and had 3 kids. Sarah was pardoned 27 July, 1798 by Gen. Hunter, after recommendations by Rev. Richard Johnson. After Thomas was killed by Aboriginals in 1799, Sarah was left with 3 young kids to raise and a farm to run. In Nov 1799 she was granted 60 acres of land at Petersham Hill--eventually sold it. In 1800 Sarah was pregnant by a convict named John Embrey. She gave birth to a girl. Thomas Jefferson Taylor md 12 Sep 1850 in Fulton County, Arkansas Elizabeth Ann Green He seems to be buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Baxter County. Information on footsweb shows his wife is too but she doesn't seem to be listed in the cemetery books. I didn't find a gravestone for her in that cemetery. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ARIZARD-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
Here in West Plains, Mo. we have a light mist falling and 30-31 degrees. I just saw a report from our church that all activities have been canceled for tonight. Sounds like winter is here. Myrlene Hwe
