That is great information. Did the transcription of the tax book cite a book and page number for the tax book listing? I am trying to verify by tax records in Warren County KY that Samuel Billingsley was there in 1839 and then left and migrated to Fulton County / Izard County AR by the spring of 1840. The Billingsley Family (Billingsly-Billingslea) in America by Harry Alexander Davis said that Samuel and family moved to Warren County KY about 1839 and then moved to AR, arriving during the spring of 1840, where in April they purchased property half a mile east of Franklin. familysearch.org has images of some records online. Occasionally I have been looking to see what they have posted. I'm hoping that Samuel was in Warren Co. 1. [ARIZARD] Gillihan
    2. Janice Reed
    3. For the past several years I have tried to find out more about the connections of John/William/Clement/Clemmons/Etc., Gillihan/Gillahan/Gillehan (and a million other spellings thereof) without finding any satisfaction. The closest I have ever found is a lead from Nola Webster Gillihan. I have checked out the New Castle Hundred, DE, Will book "O", page 58. It is proof enough for me that William Gillihan, s/o John and Susannah (Bracken) Gillihan, did DIE, without a wife or children in DE in 1795. However, I have not been able to find any recorded record of his death, or his birth. Nor can I find the cemetery he was buried in. This means that I am not able to connect John (DE) Gillihan and his family, to the William, Sr., or William, Jr., or the Clement Gillihans, in our family. I have hit the "old brick wall." If ANYONE has a document that would prove otherwise I would love to have a copy. We know our family descends from Rev. War William Gillihan who died in Smith County TN in 1830. It was originally believed that he was a descendant of John Gillihan and Susannah Bracken of New Castle DE. The following states otherwise: Admin Bond William Gillahan March 9, 1795 James Stroud & James Rice App'd Afmin sworn. Registered Book O page 58 Know all men, by there Presents, That We Joseph Ball, yeoman, of Mill Creek Hundred, and James [Lackey - sp ?], yeoman, of New Castle Hundreds and the County of New-Castle, are held and firmly bound unto the State of Delaware, in the Sum of One hundred dollars lawful money of the said State; unto which payment well and truly to be made unto the said State, We do bind ourselves, our heirs, executioners and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our Seals, and dated at New-Castle, in New-Castle County aforesaid, this ninth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five. The Condition of this Obligation is such, That if the above bounden Joseph Ball, principal creditor, administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels, rights and credits of William Gillahan of Millcreek Hundred and county of Newcastle deceased, do make, or cause to be made, a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said goods and chattels, rights and credits, of the said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, possession or knowledge of the said Joseph Ball or unto the hands and possession of any other person or persons for him; and the same so made do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, into the Register's office of the county of New Castle aforesaid, at or before the ninth day of (????); next ensuing the date hereof; the same goods and chattels, rights and credits, of the said deceased at the time of his death, or which at any time after shall come to the hands or possession of the said Joseph Ball or into the hands and possession of any other person or persons for him, do well and truly administer according to law; and further, do make or cause to be made, a true and just account of his administration, at or before the ninth day of March which shall fall in the year of our Lord, One thousand seven hundred and ninety five; and all the rest and residue of the said goods and chattels, rights and credits, which shall be found remaining upon the said administrator's account, the same being first examined and allowed of by the Register, or Orphans court, of the said county of New-Castle, shall by his or their decree or sentence shall limit and appoint. And if it shall hereafter appear, that any last will and testament was made by the said deceased, and the executor or executors therein named do exhibit the same in the Registor's office, making request to have it allowed and approved accordingly; if the said Joseph Ball within bounden, being thereunto required, do surrender and deliver up the said letters of administration (approbation of such testament being first had and made in the Registor's office) then this obligation to be void, and of none effect, or else to remain in full force and virtue. Joseph Ball (Seal) James Lackey (Seal) Signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of Jonas (Cripes - sp ?) Jas. Boot If anyone can find something to connect these families please let me know. This will probably never be corrected since all the records at LDS and Ancestory.com, and most other websites list William as our ancestor. We have to start somewhere.... Still searching........... 3. Thank you very much. The problem is that the stones were moved from their original resting place by people dragging the broken limbs caused by the ice storm. Now no-one is keeping the cemetery mowed. So we weren't sure if that means this old cemetery will disappear into brushland. The last burial was in 1995, I think, and that is the only one since the late 1880's to very early 1900's. I will try to get in touch with the gentleman. gen --- On Sat, 6/23/12, Mary f. 3. Didn't find a Daniel Boone White or Mahala. -----Original Message----- From: Pat Foster Sent: Wednesday, June 27, 2012 9:55 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [ARIZARD] Civil War widow's pension--Vera Hi Vera, In your book would you please check for a widow of Daniel Boone White. We have info that he died in 1863 in Civil War of complications from measles. Widow's name is Mahala. All info says her maiden name was White, too. She supposedly died in 1881 in Arkansas. I have a number and don't know where I found it of 407403?? Supposedly a file but I don't have a copy of that file. I think they would be connected to Madison County, Arkansas. His father was Daniel Donah (maybe Donahue?)White and he died much later in Montague County, Texas. 3. Hi Vera, Thanks for looking in your book. I appreciate it. What is the name of the book? Interestingly the file that The Arkansas History Commission sent me does not list Lee Redman's death date. What you sent does. Maybe I did not get all of the pages. I did ask for the complete file, though. It is also strange that the widow's pension file does not have any notification of Laura Ann (Jones) Redman's death either. I would think that they would have been notified and that it should be part of the file. Ancestry.com has Lee Redman's death date on two different Civil War listings. Maybe I'll call the courthouse to see if they have a probate index. Thanks again. Lee Anne Vera Reeves wrote: I have a book: Arkansas Confederate Veterans and Widows Pension Applications. Her grave is in the Old Liberty Ceme6tery in Izard Co. AR. Apparently on 13 September 1907, the month before she died, Tom Allen, the Clerk of the Courts clerk and Recorder, wrote a letter to whoever issued her Civil War pension check that the amount was wrong and had to be corrected. So if she had money coming for September and October, there would have had to be heirs named to receive it and probably probate to determine who they were and disseminate it.
