I have a Margaret Ann Tddy, b. ca. 1851 in Arkansas. She is the dau. of Jesse Elsbury Todd & Mary Givens Todd. I "think" she may have married a Gibbons. And she "may" have moved to Oklahoma. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks. Betty Mc
Hello, Betty~~ Are you a TODD descendant? I'm not familiar with these people you are inquiring about but I'm a TODD descendant through my great-great-grandmother Caroline TODD of Heny County, Tennessee. Caroline died soon after her daughter Lydia Ann Belle McWHERTER was born to her and Leroy William McWHERTER. I'm curious to know if you have other TODDs in West Tennessee. I believe her parents were Willie TODD and wife Lydia. Just thought I'd ask ... as our Bernie always said "You never know." Thanks, Peggy Peggy J. {KING} TRUESDELL ________________________________ From: Betty McCollum <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Wed, July 25, 2012 4:45:13 PM Subject: [ARIZARD] Todd I have a Margaret Ann Tddy, b. ca. 1851 in Arkansas. Harold, You just made me LOL! I can definitely identify(in this heat) with your statement! I will relay what I was told by an elderly cousin long ago, when I ask the same question. My gg gf John Daniel Johnson was a "stationary engineer" for the railroad, in KS and possibly Iowa before that. Dale's description was this (told to him by his grandfather, James Adolphus Johnson, younger sibling of my g gf, John Andrew Johnson) It simply meant that he (John D. Johnson) drove the engine of the train around within the work yard (where the engines were being serviced or repaired). I told Dale at that time, that I had never heard this story in my family but we do know that John Daniel Johnson worked with the railroad for years (supposedly, Until he and his wife and younger children had saved enough money to invest in orchard and mining land in Missouri, I still search for all the locations where they May have lived. After Dale told me this story, we speculated that John Daniel Johnson probably just couldn't wait to be a farmer on his own land instead of Moving an engine around a workyard! Maybe it was the same with Moser? Got my new Izard Co historian Historian Vol 37 July 2012 #3 today had some real interesting things I really related to. Enjoyed several articles. Us oldie’s have been along that time. Ha! Remember the Big Days at Brockwell . Jeff Cooper would have a truck load of us from down on Twin Creek and Boy! was that fun. so if you ever went there you sure need this book. Noticed a lot of names I knew .Had Troy and Mae Cooper mentioned That is my Grimmett line. Troy and Mae Pittman Cooper .Troy’s mother was Eunice Jane “Aunt Jennie” Grimmett marreid Perry Cooper. Aunt Jennie was sister to my Grandpa Charlie Grimmett. Troy and Mae are buried in Benton County Memorial Park Rogers Ar. Have their stones. Their picture is in the Izard Co Historian Vol 12 Oct 1981 #4. Hope you enjoy your book as much as I am. Thanks Guy’s for all the articles. Junebug
Neither of the articles are the names you mentioned, but they have the people that you are asking about, so I am sure they are what you are looking for. By the way there is no cost to you for copying them. Just tell me where to send it. Could any one help me identify the McCarty females found in these Langston households for the 1870 AR census. Jasper Langston 1870 Izard Co., Union twp Deliy (Delilla) McCarty 20 b. MO Miles Langston(Lanston) 1870 Izard Co., Union twp S.(Sarah?) J. McCarty 18 b. MO I have a note that says Miles Langston's wife was Margaret Susan T.(aylor) McCarty. It states that she was born Taylor and raised as McCarty but it does not further identify which McCarty family she lived with. She was born 1848 in TN according to census. What I am wondering is if there was a connection I could make with these Langstons and some McCarty family. I have no proof but believe that these two McCarty females could be daughters of Green Berry McCarty who perished during the Civil War. If they are, I cannot trace them as I do not know if or to whom they married. So if you can give me that information, I would appreciate it. I do not know who the Jasper Langston is but I believe the Miles Langston is the son of James Hiram Langston and Nancy Ann Adams - if this is not correct would some one please give me corrections to make. If these McCarty females belonged to Green Berry McCarty they also had siblings William McCarty b. 1842, Elizabeth McCarty b. 1844, Lucinda McCarty b. 1847, and Susan McCarty b. 1854, and George Washington McCarty b. 1855-1860 - NONE of whom I can trace - except the Lucinda that perhaps married an Alsup, Forbes or Philson, and the George Washington who probably moved to OK. Thanks, Dorothy Boynton
