I used to be able to go into (I think it was) Family search-pilot search and print off copies of death certificates. They discontinued the pilot search of it. Does anyone know where I can go to be able to print off copies of death certificates? Thanks. Betty Mc
Familysearch.com has lots of documents.....and I think death certificates in the documents area of the site. Hit search, next page go down to the United States, then select the state that you need and you can see what documents are available. Not all states have the same things available. You will have to sign in to see some of the documents, but when you find what you are looking for and click on it there will be an area at the right side of the page that will say 'view this document' and then you can copy what you have found. Not all documents are available in all states. Hi Everyone, Is the weather improved in AR? Hope so! It sounded like you guys got some pretty nasty weather there. Today is a day mad e in Heaven here. Just perfect, and I should be outside enjoying it, but am trying to get odds and ends done inside the house. I wanted to ask you whether anyone has RAYS in their background, and if so, do you have information on James M. Ray? He married a Margaret Unknown, and he came from Bedford County, TN to Independence County, AR. His son, James Hays Ray was born in Batesville, between 1860-1862. James Hays Ray married my great-grandmother's sister, Laura Adeline Beverage, and had two children by her: Charles Hays Ray and Nettie Ray. Thanks! Jean C
Merlyne Hastings: Would you please e-mail me. Thanks. Betty Mc
Betty, as you know, all of our McCuistion, Kimbrough and McGuire ancestors from around Violet Hill came from Jefferson County TN. Just wondering if your book made any mention of any of these? The McCuistions came from the Bays Mountain area of Jefferson County, I think Brooks B. went over there a few years back and looked around in some of the cemeteries. Just a thought..........Harold B. > Beth, > Glad you make it home ok. Betty BB, Glad I noticed this you sent, I went out on the highway for the first time today when it was totally necessary. We still have piles of sleet and refrozen ice on sidewalk and driveways here, roads are pretty clear except for ice on bridges. Hopefully, tomorrow will be warmer and the sun may shine here. I'm sick of gloom and no sun! About the Pecks you came across, I recall that one of g gd's brothers and then a cousin, had left VA for TN, and I remember reading that the one that ended in TN had been in the state government (maybe lieut. Gov or something like that) but his children had moved on west, I don't remember there being any of ours that ended in MO, except for children of one of g gd's sister's kids and if I am remembering this correctly, they may have been Campbells but not for certain. I appreciate it but ours was such a little group that the two brothers came to VA directly from Germany that their descendants are pretty limited in number. Our particular line was really well documented because of the intermarriage with the Bordens. Do appreciate your noticing some in TN though! Like Bernie always said, You just never know! Wishing for real Springtime! Beth, Glad you make it home ok. This round has really been a mess. We had about 4 inches of sleet and then an inch of snow on top. Think we still have most of it, it's not going away fast. I was doing some research in Jefferson Co TN and ordered a small book with saw some history in it. One family history, in the book, was M.H. Peck family. It said one brother, Hawkins, was a judge in MO. I can scan and send you if you think they tie to your Pecks. Betty BB ----- Original Message -----
Everyone, I barely got out of the driveway at Calico Rock on Sunday morning about 10 minutes after eleven. I had almost waited too late to start back to Little Rock. Literally, I had never seen (that I remember) Sleet covering the ground completely as if it were snow. It was bizarre, with lightening popping and thunder booming. Thank goodness, I had 4 wheel drive and I went into that just before the bridge at Piney Creek, as I would have never made it up the opposite hill. Needless to say it was a long trip, took me over an hour to get to Melbourne but then very surprisingly beyond Mt. Pleasant and then just about Cushman, the sleet turned to rain. The rain was with me all the way to Little Rock and at times, there were more cars pulled over than there were traveling on the road but I did choose not to stop and just kept plodding along. I think it was about 3PM when I finally arrived at the back door to unload the animals in the massive downpour that had just arrived as well. It was a memorial trip but very courteous drivers everywhere and really not anyone being really stupid, so I was quite amazed. There were very few people out between Calico and Melbourne, they had all gotten their stuff done earlier before the sleet started. I was really blessed to have gotten on the road when I did, as I had thought the weather was changing much later. Will be checking more often next time! Then, later on Sunday afternoon I had walked into the kitchen and heard something hitting the windows, it was sleet here as well. We got about an inch on everything and of course, it froze harder that night. Not much moved very quickly yesterday and today only those that had offices and businesses open today went out. It's still very cold and there is nothing melting at all yet. Hopefully, it will warm up once the sun comes out here. You all be safe! Beth
The best I can remember it was something like Mayberry RFD, and had a comic side to it. The "Clash" had no comedy; had sorry actors; belittled everyone in the area. No comparison. -----Original Message----- From: Lee Anne Center Sent: Friday, February 28, 2014 11:55 AM To: arizard@rootsweb.com Subject: [ARIZARD] Evening Shade with Burt Reynolds & Mary Lou Henner I didn't watch Clash of the Ozarks, but reading the posts about it made me think of a different show from the past Evening Shade (see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098790/) made in 1990-1994, with Burt Reynolds, Mary Lou Henner, Hal Holbrook, Charles Durning, Ossie Davis, Michael Jeter and others. If you feel strongly about the content of the program...tell Discovery Channel....it is not just the Ozarks...lots of over the top programming that portrays us at our worst instead of at our best....the company is only interested in the corporate bottom line...complain to those who advertize...if you are quiet ...nothing changes...JMO....Sharyn -----Original Message----- From: arizard-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:arizard-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of jreed47@centurytel.net Sent: Tuesday, February 25, 2014 8:50 PM To: arizard@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ARIZARD] Clash Of the Ozarks I completely agree with you Don. Well for those of you who may have stayed up for this TV Program at 9 pm on Discovery Channel, I think it may have rated extremely low. I am sad that we can't get something better from the Ozarks. I will not be one of the viewers next week. \Don
