    2. Candy Lawrence
    3. "And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." And a "Merry Christmas to all...and to all, a good night!" Rick Lawrence - Tulsa, OK

    3. Does anyone have any connection between the Hooser family and the Pugh family?  My grandmother's baby sister's middle name was Pugh.  She never knew why and I have not been able to find a family connection.  I would think there had to be to name a child for the name. So Dink's son was Melville! No other grandchildren were mentioned in the will.  So, assuming his mother who is buried in Hand Cemetery was already dead and that's why John M gave him stuff in the will?? His Father might have been dead also.  I found Pugh families in Izard and Baxter counties, but didn't see anything that might be Melville! 3. I have the name Matthews (Mathis, Mathews) in my tree also.  At one time or another it has be spelled each way by some ancestor.  I have come to the conclusion that a lot of our ancestors....through no fault of their own...were illiterate and most likely never knew if their name was spelled incorrectly.  Others, like my grandfather, was just cantakerous and did it his way.  He spelled his name 'Matthews' and pronounced it 'Mathis'.  He said it was his name and he could spell and pronounce it any way he chose....and did.  Still others like one branch of my tree desired to seperate themselves from branches of the family and changed the spelling of their name.  It is a real challenge when you are trying to find them, but the fun is in the chase, right? War. soldier, is buried under the name Mathis.  WHAT a BLOW UP that caused!  But the gentleman who had spent years searching for that burial site, and who bought the stone for him, and had a special burial program for him, went by the name of Mathis.  I think gma Pierson said her name was Mathis, and since it was her gma, who am I to dispute it?  LOL You found more sites on her than I have, mind sharing them WHEN you have time? Thanks, gen PS, Elijah remarried after Sarah died, and then moved back to TN, from whence he came.  I saw the same burial site mentioned for her, but I think she died in AR.  Looking at the census record, Elijah was still in Strawberry twp, IZ co., AR, after Sarah passed away.  He married Mary Ann Prater, she is buried in TN. Any idea what the nearest cemeteries are to that twp? --- On Wed, 12/22/10, Harold Blevins <hrblevins@knology.net> wrote: > From: Harold Blevins <hrblevins@knology.net> > Subject: Re: [ARIZARD] Sarah Amanda Mathis -Gen > To: arizard@rootsweb.com > Date: Wednesday, December 22, 2010, 5:56 PM > > Two of the four files I found for her on Rootsweb listed > her > last name as "Matthews" > > One of the other two said she was born in 1848 in Wayne > County TN > and that she died 17 Feb 1898 in AR but was buried at > Warrington/Prater's Chapel Cemetery in Wayne County > TN...HRB > > Wonder if Elijah was sent back to Tennessee for burial > too???? > > -------------------------------------------------- > From: "Gen" <herronswayward1@yahoo.com> > Sent: Tuesday, December 21, 2010 11:18 PM > To: <arizard@rootsweb.com> > Subject: [ARIZARD] cemetery lookup? > > > Can anyone tell where Sarah Amanda Mathis Battles was > buried? > > 1880 the family lived in Izard Co., 1900 her husband > & family were in > > Sharp.  He later moved to TN and was buried > there. > > Not much to go on, my best guesses are in an unmarked > grave in either Mt. > > Nebo or Godwin. > > TIA, > > gen > > > > > > > > > > > > ------------------------------- > > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > > > ARIZARD-request@rootsweb.com > with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > > quotes in the subject and the body of the message > > > > >  > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ARIZARD-request@rootsweb.com > with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the > subject and the body of the message >       ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ARIZARD-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
