    3. Wanda and Jim or Kenny If anyone knows or has a Gary Shelton in their family info, we would like to know!?? Graduating class at Calico Rock had just gotten together recently and Gary Shelton was one of those names that came up----that nobody knew where the family went to after Calico. As I recall this young man, he was son of Assembly of God minister there in Calico Rock, seems there were a number 4 or 5 boys in the family. Don't recall the preacher's name or that of the boys' Mother but somehow think that one of them may have been related to the Subletts that were there for a time as well. If anyone remembers or has information please let us know! 1. Re: [ARIZARD] Owens Family Researchers

    3. James "Wadge" Owens was my gg-grandfather. His son, John C. Owens, was my g-grandfather. John married Martha Nimmo and their youngest son, Teddie Thomas Owens, is my grandfather. Grandpa married Carrie Dockins. There son, Thomas Junior Owens is my father. I have a lot of information on James "Wadge" and Asenith Chase Owens' family. What I'm looking for is information on his parents, James and Priscilla Waldrop Owens. They were married 1837 in Rutherford County, NC. I think that James may have been married prior to Priscilla Waldrop. Some researchers have at least three children born prior to 1837. The names of the children were David, Armanda, and Edmund Govan Owens. I think that there maybe at least 2 other children unaccounted in my research. Edmund Govan seems to be a common name in the Waldrop family so he may be a son born prior to marriage or at the time of marriage. Most of this is just pure speculation but I still suspect some of it maybe true. Any help would be appreciated. 1. Re: [ARIZARD] DNA test
    2. Earl D. House
    3. The maternal DNA comes down from a mother to all her children, but is not passed on by males. As women change their name when they marry, it is not of much use for building genealogy trees. It can show when the female ancestors came from thousands of years ago. The YDNA is passed down from fathers to sons and changes very little over many generations. This can trace the male line back and should only show the same name males. If a known male of the line does not match other males of the line, he was born for different biological father or adopted. NEW! Discover close relatives and your ethnic percentages with Family Finder! Family Finder uses autosomal DNA (inherited from both the mother and father, four grandparents, eight great-grandparents, etc.) to provide you a breakdown of your ethnic percentages and connect you with relatives descended from any of your ancestral lines within approximately the last 5 generations. Results Include: genetic matches with relationship ranges, visual tools to show matching DNA, and ethnic percentages. Family Tree DNA does not charge a subscription fee. We will continue to update you about new matches and other information regarding your results.* [Read More]. Should I Take Family Finder? If you are interested in using DNA for close genealogy relationships (within the past 5 generations) that cross gender lines or if you are curious about your ethnic percentages, Family Finder is the right choice!** I had both my YDNA and MTDNA tested about 5 years ago and have found just a few partial matches, but proved a suspected 1/2 fourth cousin with perfect match at all 37 markers. I just took the family finder test and found no real close matches, but dozens of 3rd cousins and a few hundred 4th and 5th cousins. Also the family legend has always been Indian blood in both sides of my HOUSE line. Well I have 0% Indian blood, 90% western European and 10% Mid eastern blood. I used Family Tree DNA for my tests Earl D. 3. I think the best test is Y-DNA (male) through Family Tree. The next is Family Finder and last mt-DNA (female). Whichever side of the family you are most interested - the father on the paternal side or father on the maternal side. This way you can join a surname group. Family Finder you can do and it will give you the people in between with what percentage of ethnic you are. 3. joyce, I found a few things about Chief William Weatherford.  He was a Creek Indian Chief from Alabama.   He was married to Mary Moniac, Sopatthe Thlanie, and Mary Stiggins.   His parents were Charles Weatherford, a Scottish trader and Sehoy, A Creek Indian Princess, who was 1/2 Indian.  Sorry, no dates!   Some of his relatives inclde, John"Jake" Weatherford and Patty Dyer, Rosanna Weatherofrd and Joseph Shomo, Elizabeth Weatherford and Samuel Takkes-Hadjo Moniac, Alexander McGlivery and Martha Pollard, Johh Hadley Weatherford and Martha Avery, Mary Letitia Weatherford  and Dr. William Forbes Howell, Captain Charles A. Weatherford    and Martha Virginia Staples.             i found a great website(Hope this works)  Creek Indian Chiefs and Leaders AccessGenealogy---go to the end of it to Additional Indian Resources and fyou will find a goldmine about the Weaterfords!      If that doesn't work try    www.accessgenealogy.com/native/tribes/creek/creekchiefs.htm.   There are also censues, etc. and also tells about The Battle of Horseshoe Bend that he was in, etc.   Also a writeup by Carol Middleto called, Some Creek Families and Friends.   Enjoy.  Glenna Goodwin
