She will be remembered as a longtime resident of the Wenatchee Valley by many who met her during her nearly 40 years managing the Feil Fruit Stand in Baker's Flat. Delaphine Rogers entered this world September 16, 1926, as the third of four daughters born to Dorothy May Moser and husband, Owther Lee Rogers in Wiseman, AR. Delaphine grew up in Wiseman and graduated from Violet Hill High School, where she was an active member of the basketball team. In her senior year, she helped her team win the state championship. Her name is memorialized at the school with all other alumni. She met her first husband, William Warren Langston, in Wiseman and they married in 1946. They welcomed their son, Larry, on September 30, 1947. The family moved to Wenatchee when Larry was a toddler. Warren took a position at Montgomery Ward and Della embarked on a career as a checker at the old downtown Safeway. After her husband's early death in 1959, Delaphine briefly relocated back to Arkansas. Returning to Wenatchee, she resumed her career, this time at the old south end Safeway. Della was an avid bowler and was a member of the Women's League in Wenatchee. It was at the bowling lanes that she met her second husband, Jack O. Feil. Delaphine and Jack married in 1963, and welcomed their son, Robin, on January 18, 1964. The same year, she began working at the Feil Fruit Stand, which she later managed. She and her husband continued to bowl together for the next two decades. She retired as full-time manager of the fruit stand in 2002. Throughout their 48 year marriage, Delaphine and Jack took pleasure in the simple things, like eating out and spending time with each other and their children. She liked to take trips. She often traveled with her husband to bowling tournaments, to Reno for fun, or back to Arkansas to visit her mother, her sisters and her extended family, where she was affectionately known as Phine. Della was always happy to take a day trip with her son, Larry, simply to keep him company and stay involved in his life. She loved playing cards and games with friends and family. She also stayed a true sports enthusiast, following both college and professional teams on television. Della was devoted to her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She actively rejoiced in their personal, academic and professional achievements. She was very close to her sisters and her two very "special sisters," her niece, Sue Forbes, and her first cousin, Willene Gaston. Della received great joy from spending time with her family. She loved celebrating birthdays and holidays, surrounded by as many family members as possible. As her family, we will remember her for many different reasons, including her oatmeal, her coupons, her spunk, her amazing fruit pies, her keen strategy at the pinochle table, her smile, her laughter, and her cute southern sayings. Mostly, we will miss her love and support. Delaphine was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; and her two older sisters, Avis Bobbitt and Anna Lee Hailey. She is survived by her husband, Jack; her son, Larry Langston and wife, Lynelle of Leavenworth; her son, Robin Feil and his wife, Andrea of Wenatchee; her granddaughter, Kimberly Langston of Leavenworth; her grandson, Kortney Langston and wife, Jenae of Camas, WA; her great-grandchildren, Kellie, Ryan, Karter and Harper, all of Camas, WA; her younger sister, Evelyn Bond and husband, Forrest of Williamsburg, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A Memorial Service will be held for Della on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley on Grant Road. An Interment Service will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Central Washington Hospital Hospice. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee. » Recommend this story. 0 ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

Jim, I hope someone is able to answer your question. When did she die? With her death date, if the state she died in collected death records during that time period, you could get her birth and death dates from her death certificate. With two of my ancestors the headstones had birth date mistakes. The death certificate confirmed that the headstone was wrong. But I also had other sources that proved it as well. There’s a cemetery in Baxter County that is posted under the wrong name. The cemetery is the Hart Cemetery and someone has it listed as Heart Cemetery. Does anyone know how the name can be changed ?
It seems I missed the roll call email. I am researching the following families: Smith, Hartgrave (Hargrove), Croom, / Yancey, Porterfield, Reeves / on my husband's side Croft, Shaw / Davis, Sipe, / Love, Weaver / Marlin, Crutchfield, Halliburton / Ford, Deweese / on my side Most of these are Izard County, some Sharp County, some moved from Missouri and some from Georgia and Tennessee. ,
Duh! I thought you were talking about it being listed wrong on AGP not FAG. Can't help you with FAG. Hi Kenny, I don't have any more on James and Priscilla Waldrop. We will be away for about three weeks and when we get back we can inquire from the person who sent us our information. Vacations always get in the way of "interesting" research. John C. Owens has been interesting to us because his son, Otis Owens, married Sarah (Sally) McCarty, theyoungest sisterof my grandpa, Lon McCarty. John C's daughter, Minnie Gracie Owens married Lloyd Shelton. Lloyd was the brother of my grandma, Nora (Shelton, Ware) Skidmore. John C's brother William Edward (Boss) Owens married my Mary Florence (Loner) Ware. Loner was an aunt to my Dad, Flavel Ware. John C's sister, Sarah Margaret Owens married John Thomas McCarty. John Thomas McCarty was the older brother of my grandpa, Lon McCarty. We are convinced that everyone in Izard and Fulton Co. are "cousins". Kenny, Thanks for that confirmation about the church---I had already thought about tracking down Gail Wooten because he will remember him too and probably knows where the family moved from Calico. I have some of my Mother's pictures from classes around the area of Calico around 1937-8 and there are some Sheltons included but I believe those were all from out around Wideman area or further away. Don't know that those back then were of any connection to these from the mid-1960s. I'm sure that Gail can help, when we catch up with him. Again, thanks. I too am a graduate of Calico Rock (class of 1970). I remember him and the best that I can recall, his father was the Assembly of God minister. Gary was a little older than I am so I would guess it was part of the Class of 1968 or 1969. You might contact some of the older members of the church at Calico Rock. I will make some inquires and post the results. Hi Beth, Can you tell us the year of graduation or guess at a birth date. We have 4 Gary Sheltons in our file, but can't make a connection with the other info that you recall. If you recall Gary's parents, that might help.
