There is a book on Amazon titled 'Family Record in Our Line From Major John Mason Norwich, CT' by Theodore West Mason. It is one of the books you can look at and it has the index that you can see. Hi, Mary! And, do you remember the ice cream sodas for a quarter? I used to love to get them. Such memories! Jean C At 04:53 PM 12/14/2013, you wrote: >All this talk about the prices brings back fond memories. When I was growing up I got 35 cents every Saturday. I could go to the movie and afterwards go to the drug store and buy a comic for 10 cents and an ice cream for a nickel. When I went up to the age that they raised the movie rates to 35 cents my granddad teased me that I couldn't buy my comic and ice cream if I went to the movie. He was nice though and raised my allowance to 50 cents so I still could get my comic and ice cream. Now you are lucky to get a comic for less than a $1. In fact I am not sure you could buy one for that anymore. I don't see comics around like they used to be. >Mary Jones >

Oh, thanks Myrlene. Yes, Laura was my dad's aunt. When I was making trips to AR, I visited with Nellie a number of times, and just loved her. I wanted to get back to visit with her in the nursing home, but wasn't able to, and so many of Dad's cousins were up in age, and passed away about the same time. I also got acquainted with my grandmother's half-brother, who was much younger. Leroy "Roy" Ferguson and his wife, Icie. I wish that I had been able to spend much more time with these people, and it's so hard to jam in a lifetime of knowing people into a brief few hours once a year, for only a few years. I do remember Nellie saying that they lived in the home that someone in the family had lived in. Last time I visited, I back to get my van turned around, and backed into some type of drained ditch, and didn't know, but had punctured a tire. I was down the road maybe half a mile or mile when the tired went flat. The Lord was good because we were right in front of this little "lean to", and there was a man working on a car them. He came out, changed my tire for the spare, and wouldn't take any money at all. Then, I drove back to Batesville, and my half-sister's son-in-law called a tire place there, and they changed my tire, gave me a used one, fixed it all up and only charged me $10.00....where in the world do you find people like that around here?! :) Last time I saw Nellie, she was crying because I was leaving, and I wanted so bad to see her again before she passed away. Thanks so much for sharing. Jean At 10:11 AM 12/14/2013, you wrote: >Jean, Laura was Nellie's mother, she would be your Dad's aunt. I knew her >as Laura (Laurie) Langley. Hi Harold. Yes. George is a Mayfield relative of mine. My sister and I visited with them years ago, and they were a lovely couple. George's grandfather, James Mayfield, was the brother to my grandfather William Ben R Mayfield. Do you have any photos of George in those college days? Perhaps I can fill in some holes in my family information, since I was not raised around them. All this talk about the prices brings back fond memories. Mary Jones
Harold, according to his headstone (military too) he was Edward Charles, not Charles Edward Dwelle. Good Morning, All. Yes, Junebug, your daughters are right. One good fall, and that could be the end. My mom fell back in 1999, and broke her hip. The broken hip was repaired, and then she died five hours after she left the hospital, and went to the nursing home for rehab. The killer was a blood clot! You are blessed to have the girls looking out for you and Ed. :) Stay safe and warm, and enjoy the coffee! Blessings to all. Jean C At 07:36 AM 12/14/2013, you wrote: >Well! Good Morning every one, and a snowy one here in Henderson. It is 34 degree, so maybe it will melt.Right now it has let up some, but about 5:00 am it was really coming down. Poor folks that have to get out and go to work I fell sorry for them. Did it for many years, but old age is creeping up faster than you think Ha! Boy! that cup early came in handy this morning. My cats are wearing me out wanting in, and out. Poor things have such a bad life. Treated so bad.Ha! Better tan a lot of children, and old folks. Jan went to town and got us a few groceries yesterday. We try to stay stocked up this time of year. Me and Ed about like to old wore out bears when it comes to winter, and try to stay in our dens. All we need is fall and break what ever we have left to break. The girls just about threatens our life if we get off the porch. Done had my hard fall back some time ago. Black and blue from top of my head to even my toes.Just bruised all over. Was out on my back porch ! and have crotched house socks on and hung one on a nail, and whamo! I hit the floor full length. We all need to think of all our sick and shut ins . Count our Blessings instead of complaining. That I guess that is human nature to belly ache and complain just a little. Ha! Well guess this old mouthy woman will have another cup, and look out the window..Take care and God Bless. Junebug -------------------------------
