Someone out there may have actual proof that Caleb was born in Virginia other than it being on the census, but I don't have that proof. Also, back in the old days boundaries changed and county and state boundaries were sometimes renamed. I'm not saying this is the case with Caleb being born in Virginia but it just seems such a coincidence that Caleb and Henry are both in Independence Co, AR about the same time, living close to each other and some of their children having the same names. For years some people have confused Caleb's son Francis Marion Bales with the Francis Marion who is the son of Henry. Henry's Francis Marion married a Sarah Morris (I believe) and was about 6 years older than Caleb's Francis Marion. Anyway, I hope you find information on your Henry Bales.
