Anybody have any idea where Section 28 T14N R6W would be located in 1844? -- Dennis Kowallek Cincinnati, Ohio kowallek@iglou.com ******************

Using the BLM online survey maps I have figured out that T14N R6W is where the East Fork branches off the Polk Bayou. I can't find the East Fork on a mapquest map. Can someone point me to this feature? Thanks, -- Dennis Kowallek Cincinnati, Ohio kowallek@iglou.com ******************
The land descriptions in Arkansas haven't changed since 1844, although I'm not sure about the names of towns or communities since 1844. A section is one square mile, or 640 acres. In Independence County, Section 28 of Township 14N & Range 6W would begin about 1 & 1/2 miles north of today's Batesville city limits, and go 1 mile further north, and start about 2 miles west of Pfeiffer, & continue 1 mile further west. On one of the maps I have, there does appear to be a cemetery on the very western edge of Section 28. I believe it was called Belleview cemetery. Hope this helps.
