April 15, 1909 Obituary. Zadock Phillips was born in Athens county, Ohio, on Jan. 30th, 1813, he fell asleep in Jesus on the 31st day of March, 1908. He was 96 years, 2 months and one day old. He was married to Phoebe Brown in Morgan county, Ohio on the 23rd day of May, 1835. He has been a follower of Christ for about sixty years. He moved to Missouri in 1860 and lived here ever since, with the exception of three years which he spent in Arkansas. Five children were born to the union of him and the beloved Phoebe Brown, his wife, who preceded him in death some twelve years ago. Three of their children lived to be grown, but only one of them is living now, which is Sister Catherine Ellison, wife of James Ellison. There is eighteen grandchildren and quite a number of great-grandchildren. Brother Phillips was laid to rest in the Daily cemetery to await the coming of our Glorified Redeemer and Savior, who will then awaken him out of his sleep to a new life, not only him but all that are asleep. The funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, text, 1st Cor. 15, 35-38. Services were conducted by E.H. Yeisley.
