Are there any resources for tracking down doctors in Independence County in the 1850s and 1860s? My gg-grandfather, Dr. James Hampton Gibson, was supposedly in Batesville in 1860. Another researcher has asked me about his ancestor, Dr. James Stephen Dauley, who died in Independence county in 1857. The physician directories I know about only start in 1906, and Arkansas didn't have official licensing of doctors until 1903. Any suggestions? - Heather
