I also have a relative I know was in Batesville, AR in January 1861. Parris J. Owens was killed/murdered? during that time. Oral history has it he was returned to homeplace, which we believe is Newton Co., MO. This is a big MYSTERY, no gravesite to date. Sure would like to know where the scandral is buried. Thanks to anyone who would take a look at this mystery. I'd look for information in Newton, McDonald MO or Delaware Co., OK in exchange. My gg-grandfather, Dr. James Hampton Gibson, was supposedly in Batesville in 1860. Another researcher has asked me about his ancestor, Dr. James Stephen Dauley, who died in Independence county in 1857. > > The physician directories I know about only start in 1906, and Arkansas didn't have official licensing of doctors until 1903. > > Any suggestions? > - Heather > > > ============================== > Visit Ancestry.com for a FREE 14-Day Trial and enjoy access to the #1 > Source for Family History Online.
