okay guys--i need suggestions from all of you here. i get to spend two weeks in the izard/sharp/lawrence county area and on up to stoddard county, MO., first part of august. mom's whole family mainly from hardy/ravenden area-(lasater, kellett, hall, etc)--now all in baker cemetery, sharp county. i haven't been back since i was a little girl 40 years ago. what do you think are the best research spots--courthouses, libraries, museums--anything you think i shouldn't miss. i want to make the best use of my time there, and i already know i won't be ready to leave! ANY input appreciated--please email me privately if this is considered "list clutter". thanks to all, nancy __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hi Nancy: I don't think it's list clutter at all. Can't we all use a little research help on occasion? I know I always soak up hints and suggestions that are offered to the list. I have had the opportunity to visit the Batesville library and found their resources to be very useful. I don't know about the other counties. If you can find time you might want to come to Jonesboro and visit the Craighead County library (ASU has a lot of records too). They have an extensive genealogy section and all the Arkansas counties you mentioned are covered. Also if you are going very far back in time, most of the areas were Lawrence County. Enjoy your time and prepare for the heat!
