HI Stan Saw your interest in the name Witter and thought I'd check in with you. Although not dirently kin to the Witters, I have an aunt , Addie Loraine Culpepper from Texas who married Donald Paul Witter from Cornwall, PA (near Lancaster in the Amish country) who traces his ancestry to Germany as I understand. They met in South Texas when Uncle Don as stationed there. I only respond since it is an unusual name and there may be a connection. Would there be any WITTER listed on that census? Thanks. Anybody have the 1860 census for the same name?
