You said the magic word in the subject line but not the message. In Arkansas and many other states, all counties are divided into sub districts. They are called a "Township" but have no relationship to any city or town. In Arkansas, all old Federal census reports were prepared by township (a sub district like a mini county within a county). You may want to zero in on county records, federal census or federal land records for Barren Township. Gook luck! Thurman. I cannot locate a town on the web page for the county called 'Barren.' Was there such a town, and if so, does it still exist, or did it change to some other name? I am researching the 'JORDAN' family.
