When my mother and I visited a couple of years ago, she told me about her grandfather, P.J. (Preston) Young, a brickmason. She remembers as a child (in the 30s) traveling from Jonesboro to E.S. to visit cousins and having to pull over on the side of the road for someone to throw up. There was one of those little stone bridges there and she saw a placard stating that it was built by "P.J. Young and Sons." Of course, she can't remember now exactly where it was, so we didn't try to look. She also had me running all over Batesville looking for a stone church that had a similar placard; she said she saw it on a visit in the early 90s. We couldn't find it. She thought it was the Baptist Church (on Main?) and we even went into the office and asked if anyone knew about it to no avail. If such placards survive, I would dearly love to have a picture. If you live in the area and maybe know an oldtimer that might have knowledge of such, could you contact me? Thanks so much.
